The journey from Moni to Ruteng was fine at first. But upon arrival in Ruteng around 10 pm, a problem arose. Arinta and I fought and argued. I started contacting a female friend who worked in Ruteng. I used to know him when we happened to be in Sumba . I asked permission to stay overnight at his place. Because I think Arinta is a woman and we are really tired.
So I decided unilaterally to stay at his place. Another thing on Arinta's mind. He felt bad for Ical, because we had promised to go to Wae Rebo together and would stay at his place. I also feel guilty and uncomfortable, on the one hand I don't feel comfortable staying at Ical's place because there are many relatives and families, on the one hand I'm wrong not to discuss with Arinta first to decide where we will rest.
That night we really didn't greet each other, we were both stubborn. But I tried to relax my anger, but that night we still chose to stay overnight at my friend, Helmi. After an hour of fighting, Helmy came to pick us up. Before heading home, we were invited to have dinner with Helmy. Even though the atmosphere between us was awkward, I tried not to show that Arinta and I had a disagreement.
After eating we went straight to Helmy's place. The condition of the small city of Ruteng, then the cold temperature typical of the highlands. The streets were quiet and made the night even more tense, instead of talking about tomorrow, I couldn't even think anymore. Just want to rest and immediately lay down in a warm place. Let us solve this problem tomorrow morning. In the middle of a quiet and cold city that enveloped that night, I finally fell asleep.
It was already light, but I still felt cold and shivering. Helmy seems busy preparing breakfast. I immediately felt bad for being a nuisance on the sidelines of his busy schedule at the office. Immediately I helped make my bed and tried to help him. Arinta seems to have woken up and accompanied Helmy since morning.
The three of us had breakfast together, as if nothing had happened, Arinta and I were chatting as usual. Even though I'm still not feeling well because of last night's incident, I try to dispel those preconceptions. After breakfast, Ical and his friends have come to pick us up. Finally, the four of us went to Wae Rebo by motorbike.
The next trip is Ruteng to Denge. Arinta and I just followed the path of Ical and his friends. Starting from the narrow streets, down steeply and uphill between the hills, to combing on the edge of a deserted beach and traveling up the hill again. It's been a long and tiring journey. Approximately the journey from Ruteng to Denge is approximately 3-4 hours.
Denge was the last village before we headed to Wae Rebo. We were tested again, because there was a broken bridge, we had to go down and take the motorbike across the river rocks and the road uphill was steep. While walking, I carry a motorbike that jumps to avoid the roads that we can't pass perfectly. We arrived at a house, we parked the motorbike and told us we were going to Wae Rebo village.
Bang Ical led our journey that afternoon. In post 1, the cold has begun to be felt among the thick forests. From post 1 we walked along a fairly uphill path. Every now and then our breath catches in the midst of a hot body, but feels cold. Seen from the smoke coming out of the mouth. We used it as a joke to get rid of fatigue. In post 2 we can see Denge village from a distance. Among them can be seen a thin fog hanging, what an extraordinary sight.
From post 2 we continued our journey, until we saw a change in vegetation from dense forest moving into the coffee plantations of the Wae Rebo residents. After the road goes uphill, the road slowly changes and begins to decline. Before we entered Wae Rebo Village, we stopped at a mother's love house. It is said that before entering the village, we are required to sound the kentongan. Kentongan that indicates that there are guests who will visit the village of Wae Rebo.
After ringing the gong, we walked downhill and entered the village of Wae Rebo. Our trip took about 3 hours. We rested for a while and enjoyed the surrounding scenery. You can see fog starting to fall around the village. Breath has returned to normal, we are invited to carry out the traditional ceremony first in one of the traditional houses.
After the ceremony, we were invited to go to the guest house and pay a registration fee of IDR 200,000 per person. That is the price of visitors if they don't stay, if they stay, we will be charged Rp. 350,000 per person. We decided not to stay. Then we were served food, coffee and tea. It was a really exhausting and struggling journey to get to the village of Wae Rebo. To the extent that the problems between me and Arinta seemed to have been completed and were fine.
After eating, we asked permission to go out and enjoy the typical atmosphere of Wae Rebo village. The fog began to disappear and replaced with water droplets. Peaceful silence I can feel when I look around. At the end, a sedan man ran into the house avoiding the rush of falling water. On the other hand, there are little brothers who are happy to play with the rain.
We are really satisfied with what we got in Wae Rebo village. Really worth the struggle to get here. But it's a shame we couldn't enjoy it for much longer. Because the time has shown at 4 pm, and we rushed to say goodbye to get back down. We don't want to be caught in the dark while crossing the forest.
Even though we still feel tired, Arinta and I are quite satisfied with the trip and we have made up and forget the misunderstanding. Thanks to Ical and his friends, we were able to have peace and my intention to accompany Arinta on vacation ended happily. We arrived at the house where we parked the motorbike at 7 pm. Even though we were stuck at night in the middle of the journey, we arrived safely in Ruteng. We parted ways, because tomorrow morning Arinta and I wanted to catch a travel car schedule heading to Labuan Bajo. What an extraordinary journey to the land above the clouds of Wae Rebo
