The USC Museum is one of the most amazing museums here in Cebu. Upon entering the museum, I saw various exhibits and collections that being preserved over the time. It such an amazing experience to be here and see the beauty of different exhibits of the museum. It is the evidence that Cebu- Philippines is rich of historical cultures and heritage. Here you can see the various exhibits of the different area. The Biodiversity Gallery, Archaeological Gallery, Ifugao, People of Cordillera Gallery and Bolo and Sword Collection, Bahandi, The Rosita R. Arcenas Collection of Chinese and Southeast Asian Trade ware and Handumanan, The Rosita R. Arcenas Collection of Bisayan Santos.
Biodiversity Gallery
In this area you will be mesmerized by the different artifacts of different animals that being preserved. You will monkey, tarsiers, even the Philippine eagles, different kind of birds and more. This collection serves as the testament of Philippines rich not only in minerals but also in biodiversity.
Archaeological Gallery
In this area you will see and amazed by the different artifacts like jars, and other Philippine Earthenware’s and the highlight in this part is the skull of human to differentiate the gender based on the skull shaped. Aside from that the design of their teeth that makes you curious how they do that before. It shows that people in the past are so creative in making these jars and accessory for their body.
Ifugao, People of Cordillera Gallery and Bolo and Sword Collection
In this area you will be amazed by the Ifugao's beautiful collections from their clothes, sculpture, and other equipment of Ifugao's people used. Aside from that you will also see here the different kind of Bolo and Sword being used by the Ifugao's people in there hunting and used as weapon symbolizes of bravery and identity. It represents the rich culture and traditions of Ifugao's people.
The Chinese and Southeast Asian Tradeware of Rosita R. Arcenas Collections
In this area you will witness the historical collections of tradeware. Here you can see different design of Chinese and Southeast Asian plates and bowl. From the word tradeware it is use to exchange of goods to other traders. That highlights the interconnectedness of the economies of each country.
The Rosita R. Arcenas Collection of Bisayan Santos
In this area you will see the different kind of Bisayan Santos Collections. Here there are different kind of saint and there is a behind story in every saint that being displayed here. According to our instructor and other belief they cut the nose and cover the ear of the statues to prevent them from demonic possession. This collection shows the strong faith and cultural heritage of the people.
This museum is showcasing not only the rich culture and tradition of the Filipinos but also the rich biodiversity and strong belief of the people.
