Hello @WorldMappin Community!
Living near the Danube River is a blessing. Especially, it's summer we have the opportunity to enjoy under the sun. Whether its biking and swimming. Other people do fishing, camping and more. And I know I mentioned it many times in my previous blogs that the Danube river is the longest river.
Countries that connect to the Danube River are the ten European countries namely Slovakia, Hungary, Austria, Germany, Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria, Moldova, Ukraine and Croatia.
Luckily, it's near our house and we have our beautiful nature trip to go too.😍 And every time we visit the river it's something magical. We can go biking or hiking. It's up to us but mostly we go biking and roam around the village after we visit the river.
Visiting the place is a peaceful escape and a simple joy for us. Aside from the beautiful view, it's also free to visit. Whether you like to go camping too, it's all ok. We never try camping near the river. Hopefully soon we can.
Last weekend, we decided to have our bonding together. Our trip was free. No itinerary, no tickets, other fees and it's just the three of us. With our bicycles and the calm river inviting us to go there.
Afternoon, when our household chores are done and we get bored. We have the same idea as my husband going to the river. I call Aya and she doesn't like to come with us. But I really insist that she come. Enough for screen time and she will come to us. She really doesn't like it but she doesn't have a choice. Even if she doesn't like it, I will lock her mobile. I used family link to control her screen time 🤣 Whether she likes it or not she will come to us.
Fast forward, Dad prepared our bicycles and basic essentials, our water bottles and swimwear. Dad was outside waiting for us with our bicycles. And ready for our little adventure.
The route from our home to the Danube River isn’t that far. It's just 5 to 10 minutes of cycling. We cycled together through quiet streets, passing to a few houses of our neighbors and crossing the street, with corn fields and then a shortcut to the river.
About biking together as a family. I feel the excitement and simple bonding to the river was priceless. Connected with our nature, the wind brushing to my face, and the bright sun lightning up the beautiful surroundings.
Finally, we arrived at the Danube River. The calm water and glowing with the summer light of the river was breathtaking. We put our bicycles beside the tree. And Dad was the first one to swim.
The river view was breathtaking. The wide open waters bordered by lush greenery trees, soft breeze that makes me instantly relaxed . Aya was happy , from not interested to come with us and not following Dad to swim. Her buzzing with excitement and both of them splashing around in the water.
There are boats and cruise ships passing to the river. Aya was happy waving at them to say Hi!. I know they don't hear Aya but still she continued waving at them. After capturing snaps of the beautiful river. I joined my family, we swam together even though I'm not as good as them.
What I really love most about our moments like this is how simple they are. No plans, no money needed, no distractions, away from the busy city. Our simple bonding was priceless. It's just the three of us with my loved ones and nature. It's a reset from our busy weekend and a reminder to appreciate small things around us.
Aya was playing with sticks and collecting stones. A treasure for her.
After a good swim, we sat under the tree. Aya's tummy was hungry and complaining she's so hungry after a good swim. And all we had was our bottled water. Honestly, I did not expect that we would stay longer and its like well see what will happen next to our simple trip in the Danube River. I did not check the time and all we did was have fun together.
It's time to go home and I did not notice that it was almost 6 in the evening because the sun was still shining. We hop on our bikes headed home. We just put our clothes on even though our swimwears was wet.
It felt more different going home. We're happier in our simple bonding. I am grateful for our experience and I enjoyed the company of my family. I'm looking forward to more adventures, even simple things. Like our trip to nature, our way to connect to nature and my family.
When we’re at home, we may be tired, but our hearts are happy. I realized that there was no amount of money I could buy. It's like the song by Jessie J entitled "Price Tag". There's a line that money cant buy us happiness. We should find our happiness inside of our hearts to create beautiful memories. It's about being present with my family.
Until our next family adventure. Stay tuned!
