Our German friends who live in Kuala Lumpur visited us weeks ago. Laura loves animals and convinced us to go pet some piglets. They were indeed cute, but you'll have to endure the smell, they stink a lot haha. Not that it's new to me, I baby/piglet sat them when I was young. Having not eaten lechon (roasted whole pig) for a while, I couldn't help but wonder......(I'll stop here and talk about how we got there 🐷🐷🐷
This pig cafe is nested on a hill surrounded by lovely cedar trees in Tokura, Akiruno Valley, about an hour drive from central Tokyo. Well it depends what time of the day you go, I suggest outside rush hour window. Else just take the train.

The concept is pretty straightforward; pay 1000JPY per 30 minutes of petting and sitting around with the piglets. The cafe serves refreshment and coffee, and homemade doughnuts and macarons. Well if you happen to love eating with animals, this is the perfect way to bond with them!
I gotta commend the dedication of the staffs to take care of the piglets though. Each one has a name (I remember one was named Grey, but I think its color was brown, hmm). They run around picking up the poops and even carry the pigs around like babies.
We eventually let our friends pet the animals for an hour, while I and Kevin laid down on the bench outside the cafe and enjoyed the early November breeze. That was after he complained about his bad coffee. Ahh, Japan is indeed fascinating. I wonder which animal cafe we will go next.
