From surfing at Cloud9 to Magpupungko: Our Siargao Adventure Continues

After a one-month gap since my first Siargao post, I am finally able to continue sharing our Siargao experience. I decided to write now, or never, as I may not be able to remember every little detail in the future. Haha, I tried scrolling through my photos from the second day in Siargao to have a little refresher. Some of the small details might be missing. LOL

So here goes...

After our exciting first day in Siargao surfing the waves of Cloud 9, we still managed to have some fun during the night, but we called it a night around 10 PM so we would have more energy for the land tour the next day.

On the following day, we woke up around 5 AM.

J-Ann, who had worked the whole night, decided not to join us so she could catch some sleep. We were all supposed to drive and ride our own rented motorcycles, but a little mishap happened. In the end, @ybanezkim26, @thestrollingmind, and Jovy rented a tricycle for the whole day trip.

When everybody was ready, we immediately hit the road around 7 AM and stopped for a gas refill along the way.

On the way, we noticed that the road was wet. Looking ahead, there were scattering rain clouds, so we wasted no time and started driving to our first destination.

Our first destination of the day was Magpupungko Tidal Pools, situated in the town of Pilar, 35 kilometers from our accommodation in General Luna. We decided to go here first since it was low tide during the morning. We drove for around an hour or so but were delayed by intermittent rain along the way. We had to stop whenever the rain was a little too heavy, to the point where @iamcjestrada could no longer see the road via his eyeglasses.

At around 8:15 AM, we arrived at the entrance of Magpupungko. We paid Php 60 each for the entrance fee and Php 5 for the motorcycle toll fee. We drove a few meters towards the beach to look for a place to park for Php 20.

By the way, bringing of foods and drinks is not allowed, so we left the junk foods on the motorcycle.

Entering the gate to the beach, a wide panoramic view of the sea with clean and white sand greeted us. The view reminded me of the long stretch of beach in Mati, Davao, with coconut trees lining up in front of the beach.

We walked towards the tidal pool slowly as it tends to be super slippery. There were still a few people there at that time. The tidal pool reminded me of my hometown; we also have those pools but way smaller, and you can only sit. LOL

And of course, my friends and I wasted no time posing in front of the camera. We each took turns posing with the pool as the background while there were still no photo-bombers around.

It drizzled for a moment while we were still doing some photoshoots, but it did not stop us from posing. Haha

Finally, we put our things aside near the rock so we could swim. I really thought it's not that deep, but I was surprised at how deep it was. With no fins to paddle, I got tired easily swimming from one end to another just to take some rest on the shallow part.

As minutes go by, a few more people arrived; it was getting crowded. The sun started to shine through the dark clouds, and after 30 minutes of swimming, we got super hungry, so we exited the pool and looked for a place to eat.

Luckily, there are some karenderias in front of the beach, so we decided to order some silog there, although I only ordered cup noodles because I am not a breakfast type of person.

For me, I really like the vibe there. I would go back for the beach; I would love to sit and swim there if given the chance. And I bet it's a different vibe when it's high tide. Maybe it would take us another trip to Siargao to find out. LOL

And here I go again; I thought I could fit all the destinations from our day 2 land tour, but I am wrong again. LOL Maybe I'll try to be less wordy next time.

This is just our first destination of the day, and we still have a lot to cover; I am already exhausted. That long motorcycle drive really is tiring, even though I am only the passenger. How much more for the driver - @iamcjestrada 😂. Until our next destinations!
