If you can’t decide between going to a forest or a beach, then this place is for you.
Deadlines… Academic stress… Endless exams and recitations…
I have been bombarded with academic duties lately. It’s stressful! To save my mental health, I decided to take a break even just for a little time to recharge. Together with my friend, we went to one of the tourist attractions here in our town.
Mirisbiris Garden and Nature Center is a tourist spot located in Salvacion, Sto. Domingo, Albay, Bicol. This place is just one tricycle ride from the town proper. It is approximately 40 min drive from the Legazpi Airport.
They are a non-profit operation that promotes nature, environmental protection, and sustainable fishing, farming, and living. They offer different amenities such as the visitor center which can be a venue for seminars, receptions, etc. They also have four guest rooms that may be set up with double, twin, or bunk beds.
The Trail
This is what the entrance of the trail to the forest and beach looks like. The gate is open from 6 AM until 6 PM only.

Since visiting both the beach and the forest is free some rules need to be followed:
- Ask permission from the office first if you’re going to visit.
- Always put your trash in the trash can and maintain cleanliness at all times.
Don’ts - Cutting trees and picking flowers is prohibited.
- Hunting animals and creating fire is also prohibited.
You will see the sign upon entering the premises. There will be two paths. The first one is purely for the forest side only and the second path leads to the beach.
The Forest
In this path, you will be surrounded by different species of plants and trees. You will surely enjoy the sceneries and fresh air.

The Beach
After a long walk, you will finally reach the beach part of Mirisbiris. You will surely be mesmerized by this scenic view. All the tiredness from the long walks will surely vanish when you get to see this. We had the chance to enjoy this view alone as it was already about 5:00 PM when we arrived there. How lucky, right?

Note: There is no lifeguard at the beach so it is important to remain cautious at all times.
Here’s my most favorite picture that I took there. The picture of the sunset.
There is a rapture on the lonely shore,
There is society, where none intrudes,
By the deep sea, and music in its roar:
I love not man the less, but Nature more”
=F. Scott Fitzgerald
In this current generation, it seems that people’s lives revolve around technology. We are all guilty of our lengthy screen time and we often forget that there’s more to life than our cellphones, laptops, etc. Indeed, it’s a self-care to be one with nature once in a while
How about you? When was the last time you go outside and immerse yourself in nature?
