One of the great things about hiking in the mountains is that the leisurely pace allows you to explore your surroundings more closely. This is even more so when you're in a place like Bariloche, where there is so much to see and do. Luckily I have had the opportunity to visit this southern city several times, but with each new walk I get to know a new place. This summer, I spent a lot of time exploring mountain refuges, discovering some that I had never even heard of 😃.
Una de las cosas buenas que tiene ir caminando por las montañas es que el paso tranquilo te permite explorar con más detenimiento tu alrededor. Esto se intensifica aún más cuando estás en un lugar como Bariloche, en donde hay tanto para ver y hacer. Por suerte tuve la oportunidad de visitar varias veces esta ciudad del sur de mi país, pero en cada nuevo paseo conozco un rincón diferente. Este verano me dediqué a conocer refugios de montaña, descubriendo algunos que ni siquiera había escuchado nombrar 😃.
During my trip this summer I had the opportunity to meet a lot of amazing people with a taste for nature and long, strenuous hikes. Having companions for these treks was a great advantage, because walking alone is good, but sharing the day with someone else is even better. So it was for me with my friend Benji, with whom we will have walked more than 100 km in total in the months we shared together. Thanks to this we got to know much of El Bolsón and Bariloche as well 💕.
Durante mi viaje de este verano tuve la oportunidad de conocer mucha gente increíble con gusto por la naturaleza y las caminatas kilométricas y agotadoras. Tener acompañantes para estas travesías fue una gran ventaja, porque caminar solo está bien, pero compartir el día con alguien es aún mejor. Así fue para mí con mi amigo Benji, con quien habremos caminado más de 100 km en total en los meses que compartimos juntos. Gracias a esto conocimos gran parte de El Bolsón y de Bariloche también 💕.
On one of our trips together in ‘Bari’, we took advantage of our afternoon to walk up the famous Cerro Otto. This hike was a bit tough, but the views we had from the home of the revolving confectionery were worth it. We also took the opportunity to do one more hike up to the Piedra de Habsburgo, where we saw the imposing Lago Gutiérrez from a beautiful viewpoint. On the way back, we decided to take the vehicular road to see what else we could find along the way, although that meant a few more kilometres 😅.
En uno de nuestros paseos juntos en "Bari", aprovechamos nuestra tarde para subir caminando hasta el famoso Cerro Otto. Esta caminata fue algo dura, pero las vistas que tuvimos desde el hogar de la confitería giratoria valieron la pena. También aprovechamos para hacer una caminata más hasta la Piedra de Habsburgo, en donde conocimos el imponente Lago Gutiérrez desde un mirador hermoso. Al momento de volver, decidimos tomar el camino vehicular para ver qué más encontrábamos ese día, aunque eso significó hacer unos cuántos kilómetros más 😅.
This vehicular road took us through the Piedras Blancas Winter Complex, although in the summer and without snow it was not much fun. But walking a little further on, we saw a sign pointing to a refuge, one we hadn't planned to see because we hadn't even heard of it. Getting there meant going just a little off the path, so we didn't hesitate to go and got a good impression of the place 😃.
Este camino vehicular nos llevó por el Complejo Invernal Piedras Blancas, aunque en el verano y sin nieve no tenía mucha gracia. Pero caminando un poco más adelante, vimos un cartel que indicaba sobre un refugio, uno que no teníamos planeado ver porque ni siquiera habíamos oído hablar de él. Llegar hasta ahí implicaba desviarnos solo un poco del camino, así que no dudamos en ir y nos llevamos una buena impresión del lugar 😃.
It was the Berghof Hut, not as well known but just as nice as all the others we had visited so far. The big difference with the others is that this establishment did not have an overnight stay service, but you could still spend the day, have a drink and enjoy the good views of this place. It had a lot of decoration about winter sports, and very close by was the house of the famous Otto Meiling, one of the great promoters of the construction of these mountain refuges in Bariloche 😃.
Se trataba del Refugio Berghof, uno no tan conocido pero igual de lindo que todos los demás que habíamos visitado hasta el momento. La gran diferencia con los otros es que este establecimiento no contaba con servicio de pernocte, pero igualmente se podía pasar el día, tomar algo y disfrutar de las buenas vistas de este espacio. Contaba con bastante decoración sobre los deportes de invierno, y muy cerca de ahí estaba la casa del famoso Otto Meiling, uno de los grandes impulsores de la construcción de estos refugios de montaña en Bariloche 😃.
My friend and I spent some time chatting with the shelter manager, while we were curious about the place and surprised that it wasn't so well known. From there you could have a great view of the Nahuel Huapi Lake and the city of Bariloche. Its location was really good and being a bit secluded, the silence was incredible. I was glad to have found this place almost by chance and to discover one more little corner in my trip, where there were plenty of great places 💕.
Mi amigo y yo nos quedamos un rato conversando con la encargada del refugio, mientras curioseabamos sobre el lugar y nos sorprendíamos de que no fuera tan conocido. Desde él se podía tener una gran vista del Lago Nahuel Huapi y de la ciudad de Bariloche. Su ubicación era realmente buena y al estar algo retirado, el silencio era increíble. Me gustó haber encontrado este lugar casi de casualidad y descubrir otro rinconcito más en mi viaje, en donde abundaron los lugares geniales 💕.
