Whenever I visit a place I have been to before, I can't help but compare the two experiences. But I don't do it to see which was better or worse, but to complement the two trips and to be able to cover as many things to do as possible. During my long stay in El Bolsón I had the opportunity to visit the Lago Puelo National Park a few times as the bus took us to the other province in only 40 minutes, which allowed me to do several trips. But in all those summer hikes we had always walked through one half of the park, so on my autumn visit I took the opportunity to see what was in the other half 😃.
Las veces que visito un lugar que ya había conocido antes no puedo evitar comparar ambas experiencias. Pero no lo hago como para ver cuál fue mejor o peor, sino para complementar los dos paseos y poder abarcar la mayor cantidad de cosas posibles por hacer. Durante mi estadía larga en El Bolsón tuve la oportunidad de visitar el Parque Nacional Lago Puelo unas cuantas veces ya que el colectivo de línea nos llevaba hasta la otra provincia en solo 40 minutos, lo que me permitió hacer varios paseos. Pero en todas esas caminatas de verano siempre habíamos recorrido una de las mitades del parque, por lo que en mi visita de otoño aproveché para ir a ver qué había en la otra mitad 😃.
On my first visit of all to Lago Puelo with my family we went sailing on the lake, where we had beautiful views from the boats that leave from the harbour there. Then, during my volunteering days I visited the shore several times to go and enjoy the water on hot days with my new friends. Later on, I went again to walk to the Chilean border, on a nice 28 km round trip trek. All these things we did without crossing to the left bank of the lake, so that side was unknown to me 😅.
En mi primera visita de todas a Lago Puelo con mi familia hicimos una navegación por el lago, en donde tuvimos unas vistas hermosas desde las embarcaciones que salen desde el puerto de ahí. Luego, durante mis días de voluntariado visité varias veces la costa para ir a disfrutar del agua en los días de calor con mis nuevos amigos. Más adelante, volví a ir para caminar hasta la frontera con Chile, en un lindo trekking de 28 km ida y vuelta. Todas esas cosas las hicimos sin cruzar hacia la margen izquierda del lago, por lo que ese lado era desconocido para mí 😅.
This last time I went, I decided to go for a solo walk to make the most of the day even though the weather was not the best of all. During the whole week I was in El Bolsón the weather was quite unstable, but I still put on all my coats and went for a walk. My original idea was not to do any walking, but to spend the day on the coast, but after being there for a while I felt like exploring what else there was to do. So I found the path to a viewpoint over the lake: according to the signage it was only 1 km but with some elevation gain, so it sounded interesting for an impromptu trek 😃.
Esta última vez que fui, decidí ir a dar un paseo en solitario para aprovechar el día a pesar de que el clima no era el mejor de todos. Durante toda la semana que estuve en El Bolsón el clima fue bastante inestable, pero igualmente me puse todos mis abrigos y salí a caminar. Mi idea original no era hacer ninguna caminata, sino pasar el día en la costa, pero después de estar un buen rato ahí tenía ganas de seguir explorando que más había para hacer. Así fue que encontré el sendero hacia un mirador del lago: según la cartelería solo era 1 km pero con algo de desnivel, así que sonaba interesante para un trekking improvisado 😃.
This walk was very easy and the gradient was as steep as the signs had advertised. The good thing is that this always makes you gain altitude quickly, so that already on the way up you can have some very good views. At the end of the walk, you came across a large sign indicating that you had arrived. The scenery you could see from there was very beautiful and it seemed that the sun wanted to come out slowly, so the bright colours of the landscape were turning on and off every now and then 💕.
Esta caminata fue muy sencilla y el desnivel era pronunciado tal cual lo habían anunciado los carteles. Lo bueno es que esto siempre te hace ganar altura rápido, por lo que ya en el camino se pueden tener unas muy buenas vistas. Al finalizar el recorrido, te encontrabas con un gran cartel que indicaba que habías llegado. El paisaje que se veía desde ahí era muy lindo y parecía que el sol de a poco quería salir, por lo que los colores brillantes del paisaje se encendían y apagaban a cada rato 💕.
I took advantage of the viewpoint to take a few more photos, leaning my mobile phone on a branch. The good thing about having such a lonely day is that I could do this and pose as many times as I wanted without anyone looking at me. When I was there I realised that in all my visits to Lago Puelo I had never seen the lake from above, so it was great to find this trail to do. Afterwards I felt like walking a bit more but it was a bit late, so I just opted to stay still for a while 😂.
Aproveché el mirador para hacer algunas fotos más apoyando mi celular en una rama. Lo bueno de tener un día tan solitario es que podía hacer esto y posar cuantas veces quisiera sin que nadie me estuviera mirando. Cuando estuve ahí me dí cuenta de que en todas mis visitas a Lago Puelo nunca había visto el lago desde arriba, así que fue genial encontrar este sendero para hacer. Después me dieron ganas de seguir caminando un poco más pero ya era algo tarde, así que solo opté por quedarme quieta un rato 😂.

What I thought would be a long day of being alone was not like that at all. The hours passed as I tried to get a good photo, walked along the beach, sat listening to the waves on the lake and then walked to the lookout point. I'm glad that in the last while I've discovered that my own company isn't so bad, because it allows me to go anywhere without having to wait for anyone else. It was also good to go and see the lake, with its changing colours due to the autumn ❤️.
Lo que pensé que sería un día largo por estar sola no fue así para nada. Las horas se me pasaron mientras trataba de sacarme una buena foto, caminaba por la playa, me quedaba sentada escuchando las olas del lago y luego caminaba hasta el mirador. Me alegra que en este último tiempo haya descubierto que mi propia compañía no es tan mala, porque eso me permite ir a cualquier lado sin tener que estar esperando a nadie. También fue bueno ir a ver el lago, con la transformación de sus colores debido al otoño ❤️.
When someone asks me what else to do near El Bolsón, I always recommend a trip to Lago Puelo National Park. Getting there couldn't be more accessible as public transport is fast and cheap and in return you get to stay in a beautiful place. It was good to have the chance to go there again to see the other half of the lake: now I could almost say I walked the coast from one end to the other, although of course there is still a lot more to do. But in the meantime, I'm happy because everything I've seen so far couldn't have been nicer 💕.
Cuando alguien me pregunta qué más hacer cerca de El Bolsón, siempre les recomiendo que vayan hasta el Parque Nacional Lago Puelo. Ir hasta ahí no podría ser más accesible ya que el transporte público es rápido y barato y a cambio se obtiene una estadía en un lugar hermoso. Fue bueno tener la oportunidad de volver a ir para conocer la otra mitad del lago: ahora casi podría decir que recorrí la costa de punta a punta, aunque por supuesto que aún quedan muchas cosas más por hacer. Pero mientras tanto, estoy contenta porque todo lo que vi hasta ahora no podría haber sido más lindo 💕.
