While we were passing through the Southern Highway, it was not difficult to find good places to stop for a while to admire the scenery or take beautiful pictures. As we drove along, we discovered many highlights along the way. So far we had seen many places surrounded by nature, but no place to leave the beloved Worldmappin sticker. Until the right place appeared, and it turns out that a lot of travellers had been waiting to leave their sticker too ❤️.
Mientras estuvimos de paso por la Carretera Austral, no se nos hizo difícil encontrar buenos lugares para parar un rato a admirar el paisaje o sacar fotos hermosas. A medida que avanzábamos, íbamos descubriendo muchos puntos destacables en el camino. Hasta el momento habíamos visto muchos lugares rodeados de naturaleza, pero sin ningún lugar para dejar el querido sticker de Worldmappin. Hasta que el lugar indicado apareció, y se ve que muchísimos viajeros habían estado esperando para dejar su sticker también ❤️.
After the intense trekking we did to see one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen in Chile and in my life, the Cerro Castillo and its lagoon of the same name, we didn't have much more energy than to go to sleep. We needed a bed and we found a hostel for $20 per person. We were so tired that day that we didn't even try to find a cheaper place, we accepted the price and that was it. The next day, with all our batteries recharged, we had breakfast in a small local restaurant and continued our journey north, with the aim of reaching Puyuhuapi.
Después del intenso trekking que hicimos para conocer uno de los lugares más hermosos que vi en Chile y en mi vida, el Cerro Castillo y su laguna del mismo nombre, no tuvimos mucha más energía que para ir a dormir. Necesitábamos una cama obligatoriamente y encontramos un hostel por $20 por persona. Ese día estábamos tan cansados que ni siquiera intentamos encontrar otro lugar más económico, aceptamos el precio y ya. Al día siguiente, con todas las baterías recargadas, desayunamos en un pequeño restaurante local y continuamos nuestro rumbo al norte, con el objetivo de llegar hasta Puyuhuapi.
It is more than 300 kilometres to Villa Cerro Castillo, where we were, so obviously we were not going to be able to do it all in one day. As we knew that we would inevitably make an intermediate stop for the night, we were relaxed and allowed ourselves to make a few stops in between. One of them was at a beautiful viewpoint on the Ibañez River and the other, where we saw a waterfall 100 metres away.
Son más de 300 los kilómetros que separan esa localidad de Villa Cerro Castillo, en dónde estábamos, así que obviamente no íbamos a poder hacer todo en un solo día. Como sabíamos que indefectiblemente haríamos una parada intermedia para pasar la noche, fuimos relajados y nos permitimos hacer unas paradas en medio. Una de ellas fue en un hermoso mirador del Río Ibañez y la otra, en donde vimos que se indicaba una cascada a 100 metros.
After the 13 km round trip we had done the day before, walking 100 metres was nothing. This waterfall is called Cascada Condor and is pleasant enough to see during a stop to stretch our legs. It was a well-marked trail and you could get as close to the water as you wanted, at the risk of getting a bit wet but getting a good view of it.
Después de los 13 km ida y vuelta que habíamos hecho el día anterior, caminar 100 metros no era nada. Este salto de agua se llama Cascada Cóndor y es bastante agradable como para verlo en una parada para estirar las piernas. Era un senderito bien marcado y podías acercarte al agua tanto como quisieras, a riesgo de mojarte un poco pero obteniendo una buena vista de ella.
We were about ten days into our trip and this was the first waterfall we came across. In all the previous trip we had seen many mountains, glaciers, fjords, lakes, but few waterfalls. It was nice to find this one by chance, in such a quiet place and without needing so much effort to see it. It was even visible from the road as a white thread among all the vegetation.
Ya íbamos unos diez días de viaje y esta era la primera cascada que nos cruzamos. En todo el recorrido anterior vimos muchas montañas, glaciares, fiordos, lagos, pero pocas cascadas. Fue lindo encontrar esta de casualidad, en un lugar tan tranquilo y sin necesidad de tanto esfuerzo para verla. Incluso se veía desde la ruta como un hilo blanco entre toda la vegetación.
Before leaving, we took a look at the sign indicating the name of the waterfall. Well, what we could see of it, because it was already covered with stickers. Of course I wanted to leave mine too: at first glance it looked like there was no more room, but if you look hard enough there is always a little corner. Can you find where I stuck it 😃?
Antes de irnos, echamos un vistazo al cartel que indicaba el nombre de la cascada. Bueno, lo que se podía ver de él porque ya estaba bastante tapado de stickers. Por supuesto que yo también quería dejar el mío: a simple vista parecía que ya no quedaba lugar, pero buscando bien siempre existe un rinconcito. ¿Pueden encontrar en donde lo pegué 😃?
What I like most about the stickers is that behind them there is probably a great story about how these people got there and managed to make their mark. My story was quite long and went back several months, but I was glad that it led me to that exact place. Now my sticker is on the sign at the Condor Waterfall, along with those of so many other travellers who have had the chance to walk this beautiful route like me ❤️.
Lo que más me gusta de los stickers es que detrás de ellos seguramente haya una historia genial sobre cómo esas personas llegaron hasta ahí y lograron dejar su marca. Mi historia era bastante larga y se remontaba a varios meses atrás, pero me alegró que me haya llevado hasta ese lugar exacto. Ahora mi sticker quedó en el cartel de la Cascada Cóndor, junto al de otros tantos viajeros que han tenido la posibilidad de recorrer esta hermosa ruta como yo ❤️.
