Hello friend, today I want to introduce you to a place where I was a few days ago located in the region where I live, namely the Marche.
I love going out in places like this especially to regenerate myself mentally.
This is the small hamlet of San Vittore, part of the municipality of Genga, famous places for the renowned Frasassi caves, among the most important and visited in Italy and beyond.
Let's leave immediately !!!
I leave my car in a large free gravel parking lot 2/300 meters from the center, already from the parking lot the 360 ° view of the mountains in the early morning is wonderful ...
I walk towards the city center through park-picnic areas and passing through the centuries-old houses of the village, all finely restored
In a short time I reach the area of the Romanesque abbey of San Vittore alle terme built between 1060 and 1080 and I visit it internally as it is open to the public for free.
Well certainly a wonderful experience to visit a place that is almost a thousand years old plus so well preserved and cared for ... certainly not every day.
A place that exudes history from every corner of it .... where silence and peace reign.
It will not be difficult for you to find and visit the Speleopalontological and archaeological museum since the entrance of it is just adjacent to the entrance of the abbey, unfortunately I could not visit it since it was not yet opening time but I will certainly not fail to return in the future to visit it too.
The Romanesque church complex is beautiful from anywhere you look at it.
Yes, the fraction also takes the name terme (baths), in fact among the streets there are equipped thermal baths and pools where you can relax being an area of sulphurous waters
Having said goodbye to the abbey, I am going to visit the part of the town closest to the river.
Approaching this area I come across another very characteristic part of this enchanting village: the medieval tower with a beautiful Roman bridge attached where tourists love to walk and stop to watch the Sentino river passing under it.
The tower was built in the fifteenth century and shows a peculiarity: the entrance from the side of the abbey has a pointed arch while from the Roman bridge it has a round arch, really very unique.
As you can see, the entrance door to the tower is located above the entrance arch at a height of a few meters.
I pass inside the tower and continue to see the Roman bridge ...
Woooowww!!!
From the bridge you can admire countless indigenous trout that roam the Sentino river which at the moment has a very reduced flow rate compared to the rest of the year being summer and moreover in a historical period very affected by drought.
Once you have crossed the bridge you can take numerous paths, one of them leads directly to the level of the river from where you can admire these historical wonders from underneath and the cute fish that approach after a while you stay still to observe them, but as soon as you moves run away very fast ... WHAT A BEAUTIFUL CONTACT WITH NATURE !!!!
If you are a lover of walks and trails, well ... you are spoiled for choice! You can even reach other hamlets through paths or head towards the mountains and go inside the gorge where you can admire wonderful views.
Very nice and useful is also the stone fountain that dispenses very fresh water where you can fill the bottle before setting off.
TRAILS BEGINNING
DRINKING FOUNTAIN
Looking out from the Roman bridge I see people on a balcony suspended over the river, I see that they are eating and drinking and I realize that it is a bar ... I say to myself wow, I really want to have a nice coffee on that balcony so I go to see closely what it is.
It was not difficult for me to understand what place it was since there is a single bar / tobacconist who also prepares snacks and sandwiches with cold cuts, so I enter ... I immediately understand who is the owner of that place !!!
Yes, this cat is the mascot of this place and in its small shelter inside the restaurant it is clearly written not to disturb it, if you think that its presence may bother you, you just have to look for another refreshment😀
So I take my coffee and sit on the balcony to admire the view ... how nice !!! And what a peace ... 😎
I leave after the break and take a walk in the rest of the village among well-kept houses, restaurants and spa accommodation ...
Yes, in this place there are also served thermal pools and hotels with adjoining spas where you can deeply relax and regenerate.
I go to the car to head towards the last stop of my tour, that is the area where all the best kiosks of typical products and street food in the area are concentrated but first, attracted by the indications, I stop to see the Adventure Park, a park games, relaxation area, picnic area, adventure park where you can play paths among trees and structures.
I think it's really fun to tackle this path.
I admit that they have created a beautiful area by recovering an ancient mill now used as a refreshment area to enjoy typical dishes ranging from pasta to the typical stuffed "crescia" of the area.
OK now I recover my car and head to the square where the ticket office is located and the meeting point to visit the famous Frasassi caves, arrived I find myself in front of a true paradise for lovers of street food and food in general, every kiosk seems more equipped than the other.
You can find many of the typical dishes of the area, many of which are freshly prepared.
Result?? I approached to ask for a simple information and I left with a bag full of food ... impossible to ignore it in front of such vastness of choice !!
I noticed that the kiosks have also adapted to offer more international meals such as kebabs, hot dogs etc ... but the protagonists of the scene are always the typical products;
from traditional "crescia" stuffed with anything (that you can see in photos) to go to sweets, porchetta (roasted pig), Fried from the Marche region (potatoes, olives, chicken, meats), typical liqueurs and not available in supermarkets up to typical salami and sausages with names as funny as they are bizarre (the words that seem like swear words that you will see in the photos of the kiosks are names of typical products).
The kiosk owners are very nice and welcoming ready to offer you tastings and guide you to satisfy your tastes.
TYPICAL KIOSKS OF THE AREA
Ok, now that my mind has wandered into these wonderful places I can go home knowing that it is a "goodbye" ♥ ️we will meet again soon!!!
If my story helped you to discover this place, you were pleased and maybe you will come and visit it in person I am happy and know that others will arrive....the Marche region is full of surprises ...❤️
