Today I bring you a wonderful place that is located in the north center of Venezuela, located exactly in the north of the Aragua state is Colonia Tovar, this is a very beautiful little town, capital of the Tovar municipality located in the aforementioned Aragua state, founded on April 8, 1843. Colonia Tovar is known for being a city a little different from the others in Venezuela. And why is that?... As you can see in the photograph above, it is a typical German house and that is why this city is so different. Colonia Tovar is a city founded by Germans and to this day that tradition and that characteristic genetics of the German brothers are preserved.

Due to its location, Colonia Tovar is a place where it is very cold at night and in the morning, but in the afternoon the weather is very cool, I know that perhaps for many low temperatures are nothing, but for a country with a tropical climate and I come from a small town where the standard is 34º, 8º in the mornings in Colonia Tovar. There are two ways to get to the city that I know of, the truth is I don't know if there is a third, where I went is the road that goes from La Victoria, which is another city near Colonia Tovar, this road is steep and you have to drive with caution, since the road is very narrow and the other way to get there is by the road that leads to Caracas, which is where I went, compared to the first it is less steep and narrower. But both are the ways to get there and I would go for both as many times as necessary.

Colonia Tovar welcomed me with its fresh mornings and at about 9º you feel full and pleasant tranquility, I had come here before, but I was too young to appreciate true tourism, which as an adult you know best to witness, and that's how I realized that This place is a work of art in the heart of America, a community that makes you feel as if you were in Europe, and embracing cold that fills you with the desire to go out and walk through its quiet streets. I loved this trip and I wouldn't hesitate to do it again. What is most surprising is that, although it is a community of Germans, also and mostly today they are a mix of Germans with Venezuelans, which makes you see people with German features who can easily speak with a Venezuelan accent, this is due to that the current generation there is already well advanced when they arrived in these lands.

Because it is a forest-type area in its surroundings, it concentrates a rich flora that makes this an even more incredible place, its nature is virgin and it also contains a fauna mainly of birds that fly through the skies at all times. One of the things that surprised me the most was seeing stars at night and seeing the sky so clear that it allowed you to have a wider vision to see the stars. With this, I realized that the pollution of the sky in large cities is enormous and that this type of town, due to its low population density, makes the sky translucent and at night due to the low lighting, but enough makes it necessary to go out at night to sit just to see the sky is one of the things you have to do.

One of the places that have to be on your itinerary when it comes to places to visit in Colonia Tovar is the central square, here you can appreciate a little more closely the tranquility of walking through its quiet streets, this photo is not mine so I can tell you that when I went it was last Christmas and believe me that if it looks beautiful at any time of the year in December everything looked beautiful, there were many people on the street which is excellent for taking walks at night. This is a town that adapts very well to Christmas and believes me it was a great experience to go at that time.

Going during festive times was very interesting since I could notice the great tourist potential that it has, just imagine it is like going to Europe without leaving Latin America, these types of destinations such as cold towns for me are the ideal ones to visit at Christmas since they give that typical image of a magical little town like the ones in the North Pole in the movies, snow doesn't fall here but if you come I recommend that you come warmly dressed, especially at night, because it's very cold if you come from cold countries you'll feel cool, but if you come from where it's hot, believe me, you're going to feel the change in weather.

Although the photo does not have the best qualities, it expresses very well what I want to say, and it is that I loved walking here at night. I went to the central square and from there I walked through that area. I thought that because it was night there would be so many people, but it was not. Well, there were a lot of people, I imagine that because it was the holiday season there was that influx of tourists or maybe it's just the people who live there and it's like that every night and that seems more than excellent to me. A place to walk with your loved ones or even just in case your trip is to clear your mind, this is the perfect place.

I took this photo inside one of the two churches located in the central square and I took the trouble to take this photo since I liked the lighting, you can see that in this area the predominant religion is Catholicism as in the rest of the country and that's fine, I always say that it doesn't matter what religion you belong to or what god you pray to or whether you believe or not, the important thing is to do good for everyone to have harmony in peace. But to what we came, it shows that it is a very quiet town and its people are friendly and full of patience, I imagine that they are used to the arrival of large tourists since Colonia Tovar is considered one of the tourist destinations par excellence In Venezuela.

Another thing that I could notice is the cleanliness of the streets and the order of everything, it is as if they did everything right in its place, although the sidewalks are a bit small, of course perhaps for the people who live there they are fine, with the influx of people that I saw when I went the sidewalks were small, but that does not stop anyone from walking these beautiful streets, you can see that the people here are very orderly and that speaks well of the place. In this square I could not take so many photos, but I will summarize what is here, there is the famous well of desires, there is a large bottle of beer as a representative of its culture in the background there are some small restaurants and beer tasting stall and of course, some benches to sit and relax for a while after a walk, because if I have to tell you, you have to like walking, because here you walk a lot and the streets are mostly inclined due to their location in the mountain.

The gastronomy here is very identifying since what you notice that is sold everywhere and you have to try is the hot chocolate that is perfect for the area and the climate, it is very tasty, I do not think that the cocoa comes from here, I am not sure It is very likely that it comes from the interior of the country, since Venezuelan cocoa is considered the best in the world, many Swiss chocolate companies’ source from Venezuela. Other things that are sold a lot are strawberries with cream and that is something that abounds here and they are strawberries and they are particular here that they are sweet strawberries, not like in most areas’ strawberries are a little sour, these Strawberries with cream complement each other very well to have a good snack. Traditional German food such as sausages of all kinds is also noted.

Well, folks, what more is there to say? Colonia Tovar is a wonderful place with quiet and peaceful streets, perfect cold weather, and absolute beauty. I will always remember this destination and I will not stop visiting it, of course, I have the advantage of living near it.
