Hey, where are you?
I am in canggu
These are the short lyrics from a song called Canggu by FKJ. The whole song is instrumental music which somehow really portrays the overall vibe about canggu that’s romantic and vibrant at the same time. If you’ve been around in the area for a while, you will get the melody of the song. Like one user pointed out in the comment section of the song in youtube, Canggu by fkj describes what it’s like having a day in the area. Pretty much like the song, I experienced waking up to the sound of chirping birds and some critters. Then followed by a calm morning to the breezy afternoon and a mellow sunset, then a fun evening in which inside the song, FKJ was doing the solo sax performance which sounded really romantic. The song is really underrated and I think people have to know about him so, here’s the youtube version of it and I’ll let you be the judge. Listen along while you read this post and maybe you'll get the vibe!
It was a cloudy Monday when I stayed inside my room. I was bored but at the same time kinda lazy and afraid of going out alone. I gazed at the beach from my room which was partially visible but blocked by trees in the empty field next to my accommodation. From in front of my room, I could even see the statue from Pererenan beach with my camera which is quite insane. Wanting to get a clearer shot of everything, I told myself that the beach is just 3 minutes walk and it’s a very hip spot to watch the sunset. I should have not missed the opportunity to gaze at the horizon and watch the sunset. So, I went with my camera and sat at the conblock which was made into stairs and separates between the land and the sea. At first not a lot of people around the area but once it is about to reach the sunset time, people start flocking the place. Some alone, some with couples.
Not only can you watch the sunset, there are some surfers catching the waves. It was a beautiful sight to see. If you follow the song, perhaps a day in Canggu would be something like, having a nice breakfast by the pool, exploring the area especially around the paddy fields, better yet visiting milu by nook. Then head to echo beach for the sunset and finally a dinner with friends either at ximmor or any cafe of your preference. But that would be a different case during the friday. I have heard the party is around Friday to Saturday as most people would go back to work on Monday.
Like that day when I watched the sunset, it was beautiful and calming. I listened to music on my own and was very happy that I got to see such an amazing sunset. And I am fairly afraid these pictures don’t do the justice. If you come to Bali, do not forget to experience the sunset around Echo beach. It’s really something you should not miss and will complete your journey in the island.
