「 Wonosalam Pine Forest Range」
| Forest Range, Park, Pine Trees|
Today my family and I went to Wonosalam Pine Forest Range and also luwak coffee plantation. The visit to these places was quite a memorable one and eye opening.
These places are located about an hour away from the city main road. It was located in the Anjasmoro slope with plenty recreational spots and villas. We were driving in car with broken brake. On the way there we knew about this and decided not to visit any places located on the steep hills. But our plans changed after we met another family(my mom's cousin and her family). We decided to travel together to a new place that's recently opened. That was when our holiday mood started shifting.
We were so happy talking about this place because from the picture, it looks really entertaining with many instragrammable spots. Just 5 minutes before the place, on a very small road and steep hill, my uncle was astonished by three cars coming into our way.
Then, the car we drove in got stuck on midway and almost slipping. My uncle held the brake and the car started to smoke. Me and my female cousin were terrified. So, we decided to just open the car's door and got out. She was holding my hand panicked and we were confused as to where to stand. The road was too small and there were three cars waiting to pass the road. My female cousin dragged me to the side where there was a house with a huge front yard.
Eventually, my uncles got hold of the situation and we are fine.Even when I am writing this, I can still feel the adrenaline rush from that situation. On the way home me and my female cousin were still a bit scared because the car smelled and making noises.
I had many road accidents and I kid you not, I do not want to have any of those anymore.
Prior to this, I have not visited any of these places. So, I didn't know what I could expect from these places. I was hoping that I got something memorable and story to tell after the visit. And I really did, which was the story above. Anyhow, back to the happy stories.
Today was a sunny day. The sky was as clear as a spring water though some places were covered with clouds. Along the way, we were greeted by yellow-ish paddy fields and the greens of sugar cane fields. It was something refreshing for the eight of us who were use to the city life.
In Indonesia, it is currently a long holiday. It's the biggest muslim celebration in the country with many traditions surrounding it including spending time with the family. This year, we decided to spend it by visiting the pine forest range just outside of the town.
It was everyone first time visiting the place. So, we had no idea what would be there. The last time I tried visiting Wonosalam Pine Forest Range, it was closed. It was also not a good timing. However today, I go the chance to visit with the family on a very beautiful and sunny day.
Like many other recreational places in this area, this place has an entrace fees. It costs 6k IDR for a person. On the front gate there are also rules for visitors and also covid-19 guidelines.
I have been to many pine forest in Indonesia. I would say this place, despite located in a small city was quite well-managed. There are many photo spots around this area.
During this time, my grandma was sick. She felt ill and decided to sit in one of the gazebos available in the area. While she was resting, the rest of us including my mom and cousins explored the area.
I was the one who was enthusiastic about the area. I was so happy because it has been a while since I visited places like this. So, I walked down the paths and explored almost all the places around this pine forest range.
The area wasn't that crowded. Everyone was also seating quite far from each other. So they were maintaining the physical distancing rule.
I think the most decent spot to take picture is this bridge below. I took pictures of my mom and cousin here and it turned out so well. There are more places but my favorite was this bridge.
Here's my mom and Ray posing in front of the bridge. Sorry, I have to blur their face.
Then after taking pictures of both of them, I went to explore the forest deeper. As usual, I am sucker for conifer cones. I saw plenty on the ground and decided to pick it up.
Then after I took pictures of it, my mom took it too. She got a pretty one. Then we took pictures of it.
When we walked down, we saw many families were doing picnic. They brought mat and food from home. For me, the place has lots of mosquitoes and I would hate eating in that place. I forgot to apply mosquito repellent because I had an experience, I got sick after visiting forests like this. So, hopefully I won't get sick after visiting this place.
After taking the conifer cones, I told my mom to put it back. I told everyone and whoever that travels with me to never bring anything from forests or anywhere without any permission. So, we found a butterfly spot to catch some breath and to take more picures of the cones before we left.
For some reason, that butterfly looks pretty terrifying. I have plenty conifer cones collection. I might have to submit them to hive stock later.
My female cousin was looking grouchy. She was hungry because it was already around 12:30 PM. So that was a signal that we need to find a place to eat ASAP. But before going to find food, my mom and I decided to take pictures. I also took one last picture of this place.
I was wondering about this Civet's coffee place and also the restaurant. I was wondering how they made coffee luwak which said to be the most expensive coffee in the world. However, what I saw was something eye-opening. I will tell you more about it in my next post. Stay tuned if you want to know the condition of these civets that'll make you re-think about this supposedly expensive coffee.
