This is the city of Manosque! It has time to tell you about the city itself. Manosque is a place famous for its lavender fields.
We went to Manosque from Marseilles. It took about 40 minutes or an hour - I do not remember exactly because it was very interesting to admire the views from the car window, so the time passed quickly and imperceptibly.
Manosque is located not far from the lavender fields, and it is possible to sell bunches of lavender, according to my opinion, on every step! In Manosque, lavender is sold exactly on every corner. The shops smell really nice of real alpine lavender. Not only are bunches of lavender presented there, but you can also buy soap, souvenirs, and baskets. The simple style of the stores appeared very attractive to me. I wanted to buy lavender right after we got in the car, but I had nowhere to put it until I walked around the city, and I decided to go back to the stores and buy it before leaving.
Here we have reached the center. The center of Manosque has preserved some interesting historical buildings in the traditional Provencal style. The city center is a classic ring shape for many cities, when inside it are various historical sights, and along the outer circumference are boulevards along which ground transport moves. Hence, Manosque reminds me of Salon-de-Provence.
Speaking of the center of Manosque, it should be noted that during the Middle Ages, the city was surrounded by a fortress wall, and some parts have survived to this day, including this gate. This is the gate at the entrance to the center if you go from the bus station and the tourist office. It is called Porte Saunerie. You should not miss this place. This is the main entrance to the old town, where the fun begins.

I cannot classify Manosque as a small town in Provence, as it has a population of over 20,000 people. Although I would not say that the streets of the city center were very crowded. Yes, there are people, and it seemed to me that the ratio of tourists to locals was approximately equal.
The old part of the town is located on a hill. Narrow cobbled streets, an old church with a bell tower, many small shops and cafés. There is nothing particularly remarkable, but it is nice to just walk around. It is better to park the car and walk.
The historical center of a small Provencal town has retained its ancient charm. It has completely preserved its medieval layout, and there are practically no modern buildings. The spirit of past centuries can be felt from the first minutes of the walk.
Eglise Saint-Saveur - there are many stained-glass windows and paintings. This church is not very tall and is ancient. There are stained-glass windows inside the main nave, also in the side naves or chapels. It is very well lit, and I am glad that it was open during our visit. A beautiful place to pray, but also a beautiful church for tourists passing by.
Walking along the cute narrow streets of the historic center, you can endlessly enjoy the atmosphere of Provence, which is contained in many little things that have become dear to my heart: in small charming fountains, in lanterns with flower beds of bright flowers on the corners of houses, in tables and chairs arranged in the shade of plane trees in a small square where locals are idly relaxing... The city immediately seemed unusually nice and calm to me.
In all these wonderful houses on the ground floor, there are interesting local shops, and there are also clothing stores of famous brands.
By the way, in the historical center of the city there is an L’Occitane salon, which also offers a 10% discount, as in the salon at the factory. There are always customers in the shop, and I saw only French people - this speaks of the huge trust in the brand and recognition among residents, which is very important for me personally.
I saw some customers, but I did not come across any newbies who were looking at the bottles and jars with interest. No! I saw mostly experts who understood why they came and on which shelf the treasured product was. And yet, everything was done unhurriedly, as is customary in such small towns. I would also like to note that the store here even had rare products that were not available in the factory store - perhaps the traffic in the city center is not that high, since many excursions are organized to the factory every day.
Generally, there are no places or features in Manosque that I would recommend to anyone. Manosque is a city for a one-time visit and is not comparable in beauty to the villages of Luberon, of course. But this city is invariably associated with my favorite brand, so I forgive it a lot.
