Very close to my house there is a beautiful square that I usually visit, either alone or with my family. The Plaza Los Ilustres is located in a privileged place in my city, Barquisimeto, in the state of Lara, Venezuela.
Its name is due to six heroes from Lara, they are: Raul Azparren,Antonio Carrillo, Eligio Macias Mujica, Rafael Monasterio, Napoleon Lucena and Juan Bautista Lucena, I love this public space because it is very wide. It has many trees around it and they give shade, I enjoy this beautiful place very much because my girls, when I bring them, they play.
I sit on their benches to watch them, I can also read a book while I am there or just chat. There is an outdoor gym and basketball court.
There is also an area for those who like extreme sports with bicycles and skateboards, and its facilities have been used for dance therapy and cultural activities. There is a large colorful sculpture alluding to skateboarding, in short it is a multifunctional space.
It is appropriate to mention that originally the square was not like this, it had a water fountain and busts of the heroes over the years this changed and is what it is now. I recommend that you visit this square in my city, you can share an excellent moment because it is a landmark on Vargas Avenue.
In addition, nearby is the Arca Shopping Center, the College of Physicians, the Antonio María Pineda University Hospital and other buildings of interest to the state of Lara and neighboring areas. The Plaza Los Ilustres is an environment for leisure, recreation, and it highlights the history of Barquisimeto Lara state. You will love to visit it.

Muy cerca de mi casa se encuentra una bella plaza a la que acostumbro visitar, sea sola o con mi familia. La Plaza Los Ilustres se encuentra en un sitio privilegiado de mi ciudad, Barquisimeto, en el estado Lara, en Venezuela.
Su nombre se debe a seis próceres larenses ellos son: Raúl Azparren,Antonio Carrillo, Eligio Macias Mujica, Rafael Monasterio, Napoleón Lucena y Juan Bautista Lucena, me encanta este espacio público porque es muy amplio. Posee muchos árboles a su alrededor y dan sombra, este lindo lugar lo disfruto mucho porque mis niñas, cuando las traigo, juegan.
Me siento en sus bancos para observarlas, también puedo leer un libro mientras estoy ahí o simplemente conversar. Hay un gimnasio al aire libre y, cancha de baloncesto.
También hay un área para los que les gusta el deporte extremo con bicicleta y patineta, sus instalaciones han sido utilizadas para hacer bailoterapia y actividades culturales. Existe una escultura colorida de gran tamaño alusiva a la patineta, en definitiva es un espacio multifuncional.
Es oportuno mencionar que originalmente la plaza no era así, tenía era una fuente de agua y los bustos de los próceres con el paso de los años esto cambio y es lo que hay ahora. Recomiendo que visiten esta plaza en mi ciudad, pueden compartir un excelente momento por ser un punto de referencia en la Avenida Vargas.
Además, cerca de ella está el Centro Comercial Arca, Colegio de Médicos, el Hospital Universitario Antonio María Pineda y otras edificaciones de interés para el estado Lara y zonas vecinas. La Plaza Los Ilustres es un ambiente para el esparcimiento, la recreación, y en ella se destaca la historia de Barquisimeto estado Lara. Te encantará conocerla.
