How would you like to step back into the past in 1882? A time when steam locomotives can take you faster to your destination. What if I told you that you could still romanticize the past and experience a steam locomotive? See a working station from the past.

At our camp, I have been hearing a sound that seems to be like a choo-choo train even at night. I did a little searching around the area and discovered an old train station. It was just a couple minutes' walk from our campsite at Wowo camp so we decided to check it out the next day

We reached the station located at Sussex, Sheffield Park, Uckfield in the UK and we were excited to see the old station.

Headed to the station there were old signboards on the fence. This got us more excited and it was like stepping back into the past as we get more closer to the station.

When we reached the station we felt a bit out of place. I felt that we should be wearing Victorian-era clothing once we got inside. I checked the side of the station and saw the old train carriage which was magnificent.

We headed straight inside the station and there is an admission fee of £5.00 per adult and £3.00 for children. The cost can be redeemed back if purchase something at their shops inside for £6.00 spend.

This is a fully functioning train station that will take you from Sheffield Park to East Grinstead, it will stop at Horsted Keynes and Kingscote.

Bluebell Railway

Imagine riding a steam engine through 11 miles of glorious Sussex scenery. This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what Bluebell Railway offers to visitors of all ages. The Bluebell Railway is one of the oldest heritage lines in the country, preserving one of the finest collections of vintage steam locomotives and carriages from the British Railways.

To intensify the experience the conductors, staff, and engineer are all in full costume.

The station began operation in 1960 and has been featured in a lot of movies. There are four stations Sheffield Park, Horsted Keynes, Kingscote, and East Grinstead. All have been preserved and showcase the Victorian era, the 1930s, and the 1950s. Now we are very curious what the other stations would look like.

I have never been this close to a steam locomotive and a fully functioning train which makes it more special. I took a peek and saw someone shoveling coal inside the furnace. It felt so unreal and it was very beautiful looking back into the past.

The train was preparing to depart as the conductor boarded the train. The steam was more intense and the train whistle was blowing.

We headed to the back of the train to see more of the station. Here you could see old suitcases and it almost feels like some of the passengers has left their luggage from 1882.

Vintage advertisements and hanged on the wall which could convince you that you are in the past.

We never got a chance to go inside and see what the interior looks like as the train was almost ready to depart. Maybe we should book a ticket one day. They also offer afternoon tea and dining aboard the train.

This is the gift shop and there is also a cafe in the area if you are hungry.

There is a crossway to get you to the other side of the station and a good spot to take some photos of the area.

The train was departing and it blew a cloud of white smoke up in the sky. The whistle blew again and we began to hear the iconic sound of the Choo choo.

Here in this area, there are old carriages and one of the old trains are parked here.

There is another shop which looks like it sells books and more souvenirs.

More old luggage is on display here and my mind begins to make up more stories and imagine how the passengers left their luggage. I would like to peek inside one of those suitcases. Could there be more antique items and clothing inside?

Looking across the platform it says way out and ladies. Do they have a separate exit way for the ladies back in the day?

This is the museum at this station which contains more about the history of Bluebell Railway. It houses more than 12,000 photographs, memorabilia, old items and equipment used at the station. Whether you are a train enthusiast or not everyone will enjoy reliving the past at Bluebell Railway.
