On the same day of Taormina, we spent the afternoon in the Gorges of Alcantara. This is a very nice place with a lot of water in the very middle of a valley that is usually very dry and hot.
People go there to refresh instead going to the sea and the result is that this place gets much crowded.
Anyway, to avoid the crowd we decided to go for a rapids-trekking, a trekking inside the river that sometimes got quite rapid. Much rapid :D
This was the Venus gorge
And this, the "Love Posts", on the "Lovers Balcony", a natural terrace where we could see from above the "Venus Gorge".
The story told that in that place, Venus used to make love with God Volcano and as you can see, the water there is still quote relaxed before the very start of the rapids.
One day, Venus decided to make love with a peasant or a semi-God making Volcano furious triggering his rage on the Gorges that melted in a part and slided down in another.
So, the Gorges changed shape a little bit from what they could be in the very first place thousands of years ago.
Was it really Volcano or a thunderstorm happened after for example a couple making love there with one of them being a “prohibited” person?
We know that mythology is quite to be interpreted.

Here were me and Mary in a wild passage of the Gorges, where she almost fell totally underwater
And to end with, the whole trip, here is me, “following” the Mascotte of the park, which of course was called ZazzaMike and our guide during the Gorges Trekiking was named Michele.
Quite a redundancy :D
Close to the Gorges, there was a very important Monastery of Friars that we went to visit from outside and we took a couple of good pictures. The first one, saying:
Waiting is bad even if for short but the leg enjoys it and rests.
And the second, saying:
What can benefit to a man that buys everything if he lose the sight on his soul?
After a strong day, from Taormina to the Gorges of Alcantara, we decided to get some good fish in Sicily as the portions are usually very interesting and pricy.
So, here were our dinner: a huge mixed fried fish
With a macaroon desert
