Hello travelers! How's it going?
I don't know about you, but I could spend hours in this community. Aren't you amazed by the world out there? It s so beautiful! From small villages, cities and countries to beaches, islands, forests, tropical places, waterfalls and mountains!
Ohh dear! I wish I had 3 lives so I can see the whole world OR to be billionaire. Yup 😅
Anyways, I'm thankful for every place I visited so far and I pray for more to come!
This place, Skala Maries, (Skala Marion) located on the western part of Thassos Island in Greece was a real thing!
A small simple village build next to the sea, offering stunning views! These are my words to better describe it! A beautiful place for a walk, to eat, to enjoy all the mediterranean landscape and get tanned on the beach! Just perfect! I MISS YOU GREECE 😔 (this summer is a must!)
The beach is situated in a quiet and peaceful location, ideal to enjoy nature and hiking. It is surrounded by rocky cliffs covered with lush vegetation from both sides and exotic blue green waters.
QuoteIt is organized with a few straw umbrellas and sundecks, placed in front of the crystalline waters. Basically, it is a secluded cove where the greenery background creates a magnificent landscape. It is protected from the strong winds and the waters are not so shallow. There are many hotels and fish taverns around the area. It is one of the best places to relax, away from the noisy crowds. according to greeka.com
Skala Maries offers a calm, welcoming and attractive place for relaxing holidays, in harmony with the sea breeze and the slow pace of life of the islanders.
In it's simplicity, this small authentic Greek village is very romantic.
This picturesque village stretches over three bays and the whole village embraces three small and welcoming sandy beaches.
The houses are agglutinated, practically piled up in each other, with narrow, picturesque alleys slipping through them.
As is often the case in Greece, sea settlements also have a mountain village that is no longer preceded by the name Skala (meaning seaside) - in this case, the mountain village Maries corresponds to the resort of Skala Maries.
The bays formed in the Skala Marion area have a fine sand and crystal clear waters, offering visitors the opportunity to relax on beaches not very organized or cosmopolitan, but still very attractive and with some unforgettable sunsets (the whole orientation is to the west).
Surprisingly, for a resort as small as Skala Maries, there are no more and no less than three sandy beaches within the boundaries of the resort - located at a very short distance from each other, and in the bays near the resort. I find other small beaches hidden among the rocks.
Skala Maries is a fairly small settlement, with no tourist attractions of its own or of particular importance to Thassos. That doesn't mean there's nothing to see here.
A leisurely stroll through the silent white houses, through the huge olive, pomegranate and fig trees, soaking up the gentle light of the Mediterranean sun is a way to smell the scents of the island and enjoy the perfect beauty of simplicity.
In fact, that's what we did. We walked through this resort and admired the wonderful landscapes.
In Skala Maries there is no possibility of fun - like a club or a disco, just peace and total relaxation, a meditative setting inclined to discover the soul. THAT IS SOO GOOD!
We arrived quite late, before dinner, so the pictures are not the brightest. Unfortunately, I was not able to take very nice photos of the settlements in this village. But still, I got some really nice photos now and then.
We ate at a tavern where freshly caught fish was cooked. We enjoyed the view, the air, chillin and drinking lemonade.
From what I remember, we served some grilled chicken breast, fish soup, swordfish and bream fish. I could be wrong but still, the food was good.
One thing I can't forget about this place is that I've never seen a place in Greece (where I've been before) where there are more lime trees than here.
There were also many fig trees, orange trees and pomegranate trees.
In Thassos, limes, olives and pomegranate you'll find easily. They are everywhere!
See? There are everywhere!
AND THEY TASTE LIKE HEAVEN! 🍋 cause I took some 😵🤤 and made some lime lemonade to the accomodation LOL.
All right guys, this is it!
Hopefully you'll make yourself an idea about this beautiful place.
I liked it very much! And definetely it's a must see if you're in Thassos, along with soooo sooo many others! This island is worth to visit every year, every season!
love, Missdeli
