After we came down from the Yao village, we stopped by a Yao museum. In the museum, it shows many things regarding their culture, tradition, native language using clothes patterns, etc. One of the facts I got very surprised was that the number of total Yao people in the world. It is more than 1000000+ people in the world, and they are located all over the world. They do not have their country, but it seems that they have some autonomous authority from the Communist Party of China.

The museum explains about Yam in many ways, their tradition, culture, the autonomous council in the town, the demography of the Yao, their history, etc. It is so interesting to learn that there are many different minorities groups in China. When I hear the word "Chinese", we usually picture "a Han Chinese person" who is like "Mao Zedong", however, there are at least 56 ethnic minorities in China according to Wikipedia. And, Yao people are one of the 56 ethnic minorities in China. It was cool to know that Han Chinese is just the majority ethnic group in China, and there are many other minority groups in China.

Minority groups in China

I visited this museum in 2017 and I realized that China is such a multicultural country with many different minority groups. China is such a beautiful country with so rich culture with many different minority groups like Yao. Today, the Communist Party of China has been criticized that they have been treating the Uyghurs unfairly with little humanity. The Uyghurs are one of the minority groups in China like Yao. I love China as a beautiful nation with so many cool places to visit for sightseeing so that I hope that the Communist Party will not demote its credibility with inhumane acts towards the Uyghurs. 🙏
