Back in March 2023, my father's siblings came to Cebu. It had been a very long time since we saw each other, and we had a fun time bonding. So, we planned a quick outing.
Our destination was Waterworld. It's an aqua park for both kids and adults! It's filled with different areas of aqua playgrounds, whether deep or shallow, calm or wavy, with swings and slides—they have it all!
Waterworld is located just below the Marcelo Fernan Bridge, Mandaue, Cebu City. Common starting points are the Lapu-Lapu Airport and/or SM Mandaue Mall. From there, you can directly take a shuttle, taxi, jeep, or your personal vehicle.
Upon entering, you'll be greeted by a captivating entrance gate and the massive aqua park in the background. You'll pass by a station where they'll ask for your basic information, like your name, age, and location. If you're bringing food and drinks, there's a corkage fee of 100 pesos per kilo, estimated based on the weight of what you're bringing. Drinks are not allowed.
You must wear swimming attire.
At the entrance, you'll be welcomed by a domed roof with their souvenir shop and photo booth on each side.Just in front, you'll pass by the payment area, where you'll pay per head. The entrance fee back then was around 500 pesos per head; now, according to their notice, it's around 400 pesos per head.
Here's a picture of the inside. At the center is the main pool; to the left are the extreme aqua rides, in front is the infinity pool, and to the right is a two-story structure with rooms for rent above and food stalls and tables below.
If you want to maximize your time, you can avail yourself of their Aqua Suite rooms for 2,500 pesos. They include Wi-Fi access, a bed, TV, toilet and shower, and are fully air-conditioned. They're good for a family.
In the center pool, there's a variety of captivating, colorful, and fun water playgrounds. There are slides, a gigantic bucket that stores water and then pours it out, shower sprays on each side, and a clear, clean pool with a bunch of life buoys around it. This part is good for everyone and for a fun, minimal dip in the pool, especially for those who are afraid of the big activity rides.
Just to the left of the center pool are the extreme rides. The Dare Drop is where you stand on an enclosed slide, and then the floor suddenly opens, dropping you to the bottom. The Speed Shutter Slide is where you use a mat as you slide down from the tall structure.
Then, there's the Space Hole, where you'll panic as you go down, unaware of where you are in the slide due to the dome of darkness, before being released into the open part of the Hole.
These are daredevil activity slides in Waterworld that you can experience by yourself or individually.
But, you can also do it with a partner, at the River Rapids, where you both ride a floating device on a massive tornado-like funnel.
Or, you can even go with your family on a Family Coaster Slide. Meanwhile, in front is the Infinity Pool, also known as the Tsunami Pool. A massive number of people can go there and enjoy the splashing tsunami waves when the generator starts.
Personally, I spent all my screams and shouts at the Space Hole and the Family Coaster Slide. But all the activity ride experiences there were so fun! Everywhere I went, enjoyment awaited.
But just a reminder, the food there is quite costly, but I think it's a fair price since the experience is priceless.
So, what do you think? Would you go there too?
This is all for now. See you in the next blog.
