Last weekend, I decided to take a short trip. This month has been filled with hard work and effort. Everything is going very well. In order to relax, I decided to travel to Cubiro. I was accompanied by my brother on my motorcycle. Obviously, I didn't drive since I haven’t learned yet.
From Barquisimeto to Cubiro, located in the Jiménez Municipality, Lara State, it took us approximately 1 hour and 35 minutes by motorcycle. I decided to write this post as a log until we reached our final destination. As we began to ascend towards Cubiro, I decided to take a photograph. The natural beauty of Cubiro is unique. The wooden fences and the distant cattle were striking. I took a photograph of that scene.
As we kept going up, we encountered the mountain formations that characterize the Jiménez Municipality and are part of the identity of the journey to Cubiro. One thing that stands out in this area of Lara State is the green color that defines each of the mountains. It’s a spectacular view and an incredible journey.
On the way, we saw a blue house. I took a photograph from a distance, and as I got closer, I could see how beautiful it was. It had a style similar to that of the European houses in Colony Tovar; however, it was a bit more rustic and colorful.
For me, as an urban planner, this house has a unique identity in the space where it’s located. Although the fences somewhat obscure its beauty, I couldn’t go inside or ask if it was an inn or something like that because we were on the motorcycle. However, since I liked it so much, I decided to take several photographs.

We continued our ride on the motorcycle and arrived in the town of Cubiro. The identity of the town is unique, though everything is fenced. This is typical of places in Venezuela due to security concerns.
Something I really liked was seeing agave bushes. This plant grows abundantly in Venezuela, and seeing it was a big attraction. It was very peculiar that around the fences and walls, this plant was growing. Also, each one was nearly my size, approximately.

A very beautiful house was located between dramatic walls and a lovely facade. On one of the walls, it said that a guesthouse and restaurant were located 1.5 kilometers away. Although the house had a very attractive design, it looked neglected. This is something that happens in the context of the country.
Continuing on my journey, I came across a sign for a plot of land that was for sale. If any of you are interested in acquiring it, you can contact the owner. In the long term, it would be a good investment. Cubiro is one of the most touristy areas in Lara State.
As we kept going, we found a sort of farm. The building was located at the corner of the land. The most striking thing was that everything was green and clean. The place felt enveloping, and the shape of the structure is something that defines the place itself.

Almost reaching the Cubiro Hills, I again encountered a herd of cattle. The view was immersive, a clear sign of the agricultural activities in the area. Taking this trip on a motorcycle makes you realize that there are many things happening in the country.
Upon reaching the town of Cubiro, I took some photographs of the town's urban profile. It was brief and quick since we were on the motorcycle. Most of the buildings had only two floors; that’s something that really stands out.

I came across the San Miguel Arcángel Church, which was built in 1857. Although it’s not the church with the original architectural design, you can tell it’s very neglected for being one of the oldest icons in the town. Normally, churches in each town are well-preserved since they govern the growth of the urban space.
The church has a lovely design. In addition, it has its own bell tower, typical of the design from the colonial era. I managed to take two photographs, one from a little further away and another a bit closer. I have decided to share the best photograph.
After passing through the town, I continued my journey and took a break at the Lomas de Cubiro. The air was incredible, and everything was very exciting. I would say that everything was unique. The view from this place makes you feel peace and connects you with yourself.
We resumed our path and continued exploring the area, surrounded by unique facades and natural beauty that you can only find here.
I came across a street where the mountain cut was covered with stones. This is something unusual, but it created an incredible beauty because of the color of the flowers and trees surrounding it.
As we ventured further, I became more and more impressed. Houses with reddish tiles, surrounded by nature and pine trees. I must highlight that some plots of land had cut slopes and stepped protective barriers. This is done to prevent landslides.
Before reaching our final destination, we encountered an unpaved road. Everything was dirt, and I was worried something might happen to the motorcycle. However, we managed to ride through it with ease.
We arrived at the Cubiro Caves, or Caves of Carrao. The view from the outside was spectacular: the color of the trees, the way the water flowed, and the natural perspective were amazing.

I was so focused on the surroundings that I wanted to take a dip, as we had been under the sun for a long time to get there. I must emphasize that despite the sun, everything was very cold. We arrived after 1:00 p.m. local time.
Upon entering the Carrao Caves, it was very dark. To visit this place, it's recommended to go early to appreciate the rock formations between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. These are the best hours to visit. The little light that entered allowed us to see only a bit of the water’s color and the rock formation, but the experience was unique. The journey was worth it. Swimming in that place relaxes the body.

El fin de semana pasado decidí hacer un viaje breve. Éste mes ha sido de trabajo y esfuerzo duros. Todo está saliendo muy bien. Con el propósito de relajarme, decidí viajar a Cubiro. Fui acompañado por mi hermano en mi motocicleta. Obviamente, no manejé yo, ya que no he aprendido.
De Barquisimeto a Cubiro, ubicado en el municipio Jiménez, Estado Lara, tardamos aproximadamente 1 hora y 35 minutos de recorrido en motocicleta. Decidí hacer este post en modo bitácora hasta llegar al destino final. Al comenzar a subir a Cubiro, decidí tomar una fotografía. La belleza natural de Cubiro es única. Las cercas de madera y el ganado a lo lejos eran impresionantes. Tomé una fotografía de esa escena.

Una casa muy linda se encontraba entre paredes dantescas y una fachada hermosa. En una de las paredes decía que, a 1,5 kilómetros, se encontraba una posada y restaurante. Aunque la casa tenía un diseño muy atractivo, se veía que estaba descuidada. Es algo que ocurre en el contexto del país.
Siguiendo mi recorrido de viaje, me encontré con un aviso de un terreno que se estaba vendiendo. Si alguno de ustedes quiere adquirirlo, puede contactar al dueño. A largo plazo, sería una buena inversión. Cubiro es una de las áreas más turísticas del Estado Lara.
Al seguir recorriendo, encontramos una especie de hacienda. El edificio estaba en una esquina del lote de terreno. Lo más llamativo era que todo estaba de color verde y limpio. El lugar me pareció envolvente; además, la forma de la estructura es algo que identifica al mismo lugar.
Casi llegando a las Lomas de Cubiro, nuevamente me encontré con un lote de ganado. La vista era envolvente, un signo claro de las actividades agrícolas de la localidad. Hacer este recorrido en motocicleta te hace ver que existen muchas cosas y están ocurriendo en el país.
Llegando al pueblo de Cubiro, tomé algunas fotografías del comportamiento o perfil urbano que caracteriza al pueblo. Fue algo leve y rápido debido a que iba en motocicleta. La mayoría de las edificaciones tenían solo dos plantas; eso es algo que llama mucho la atención.
Me encontré con la iglesia San Miguel de Arcángel, que fue construida en 1857. Aunque no es la iglesia con el diseño arquitectónico original, se puede notar que está muy descuidada para ser uno de los iconos más antiguos de la ciudad. Normalmente, las iglesias de cada pueblo tienen una alta conservación debido a que son las que rigen el comportamiento de crecimiento del espacio urbano.
La iglesia tiene un diseño muy lindo. Además, posee su propio campanario, típico del diseño de la época de la colonia. Logré tomar dos fotografías, una un poco más lejos y otra un poco más cerca. He decidido compartir la mejor fotografía.
Luego de pasar por el pueblo, seguí mi recorrido e hice una pausa en las Lomas de Cubiro. El aire estaba increíble y todo era muy emocionante. Yo diría que todo fue único. La vista desde este lugar hace que sientas paz y te encuentres contigo mismo.
Volvimos a tomar nuestro sendero y seguimos recorriendo el lugar entre fachadas únicas y una belleza natural que solo puedes encontrar aquí.
Me encontré con una calle donde el corte de la montaña estaba revestido con piedras. Es algo poco usual, pero que generaba una belleza increíble debido al color de las flores y los árboles que la rodeaban.
A medida que nos adentrábamos más, quedaba más impresionado. Casas con tejas rojizas, rodeadas de naturaleza y pinos. Debo destacar que algunos lotes de terreno tenían talud de corte y protectores escalonados. Esto es algo que se efectúa para evitar deslizamientos.
Antes de llegar a nuestro destino final, nos encontramos con una carretera que no estaba asfaltada. Todo era de tierra, me preocupaba que le sucediera algo a la motocicleta; sin embargo, pudimos manejar con tranquilidad.
Llegamos a las Cuevas de Cubiro o Cuevas de Carrao. La vista desde afuera era espectacular: el color de los árboles, la manera en la que el agua circulaba y cómo era la perspectiva natural. Estaba tan concentrado que quería bañarme, debido a que llevamos mucho sol para llegar. Tengo que resaltar que, a pesar de que había sol, todo era muy frío. Llegamos después de las 1:00 p.m., hora Venezuela.
Al entrar a las Cuevas de Carrao, todo estaba muy oscuro. Para ir a éste lugar, lo recomendable es ir temprano para poder apreciar la formación rocosa entre las 9:00 a. m. y las 12:00 p.m. Son las horas adecuadas para visitar el lugar. La poca luz que entraba solo permitía ver un poco la coloración del agua y la de la formación rocosa, pero la experiencia es única. El recorrido valió la pena. Bañarse en ése lugar relaja el cuerpo.
Espero que disfrutaras mi experiencia. Cubiro tiene muchos secretos. En un próximo viaje espero poder contar un poco más de cada lugar y la identidad de lo que hay en cada espacio. Amo cada experiencia. Sobre todo, poder vivirla y dejarla plasmada acá.
