On our way south to visit family we decided to stay at Coffs Harbour area over night. After checking out the motels we found a better value AirBnB. We arrived late and needed to do a fair bit of driving the next day so we did not make any plans for checking out the area. I woke early the next day and was keen for an easy short run before we hit the road. @consciouscat had the same idea. I find it easy to run early on long driving days as I end up feeling pretty stiff and achy sat in the car for long periods even with regular breaks. A quick check of the map only had us 500 metres from the beach and some sort of costal path so off we jogged.
Little did we know and to our great surprise we were running on Macauleys headland walking track at sunrise on a cold but beautiful morning. One of the best tracks in the Coffs Harbour area, which is a small part of the small of the Solitary Islands Coastal Walk.
We started at Park beach, were there was a lone surfer warming up and checking out the waves.
Our short three kilometre run had quite a few photo stops.

This place was so nice we almost decided to change our plans and stay longer but we needed to keep moving south. Hopefully we can spend a bit more time here on the way back.
