Does it ever happen to you to have a recurring song in your mind, that you associate with the reality that surrounds you?
While I was taking an unknown road escaping the city I was stuck in I found myself exploring the WWF Oasis of Monte Arcosu, in the Southern Sardinia, and a famous song just came to my mind, which name, it comes to say, is A Change of Seasons (Dream Theater), and around this campfire, I'll try singing this story for you...
A CHANGE OF SEASONS - DREAM THEATER
0. Intro - Forgotten Realm
I. The Passage of Time
I remember a time in the city’s embrace,
Where the sun shone bright and life moved fast,
But I left it behind, searching for grace,
On a road that led to the quiet vast.
The green hills called, a distant sound,
And I wandered far from the world I’d known,
To a place where silence wrapped around,
Where the seeds of change were sown.
II. The Elder’s Warning
In the heart of the land where the green turns gold,
I found an ancient statue, weathered and wise,
Its eyes looked back at stories untold,
A caged donkey nearby, with tired eyes.
The elder spirit whispered low,
"This world you walk is fading away,
The seasons shift, and rivers slow,
If you forget, this land will decay."
III. The Silent River
I came upon a river, dry as the dust,
Where water once flowed, now only stones,
A path that spoke of time’s cruel thrust,
Of a world where silence now atones.
The riverbed, a ghostly white,
Held memories of what once was pure,
Now barren, empty, lost to sight,
A future uncertain, insecure.
IV. The Colors of Change
The trees that once were green and full,
Now burn with the colors of autumn’s eve,
The leaves turn red, the world grows dull,
As summer’s warmth begins to cease.
High above, on a rocky ledge,
Cactus plants stood, their spines sharp and long,
They watched me pass, on nature’s edge,
And spoke in whispers, a mournful song.
"We’ve seen the shift, we’ve felt the burn,
The earth itself is crying out,
The seasons change, the cycles turn,
But we stand tall, though filled with doubt."
V. The Spirit’s Call
The Mother spirit’s gaze is long,
It sees the past and what’s to come,
A warning in the silent song,
Of lands that could be overcome.
The seasons change, relentless, slow,
The river dry, the colors wan,
A future that we may not know,
If we forget where it began.
VI. The Wanderer’s Reflection
As I depart, I feel the weight,
Of what was lost and what’s at stake,
The seasons change, the earth’s own fate,
A cycle we must not forsake.
In the Oasis of Deer and Moon,
I see a world that’s holding on,
A fragile beauty, gone too soon,
Unless we act before it’s gone.
