Chiang Mai, the best northern province in Thailand.. (in my opinion, of course, since it's my hometown haha). As I told you about the 2 Yellow Raincoats on a Foggy Mountain in Chiang Mai - Part I of our day trip, let's continue to the 2nd part of it.
As we came down, half of the trip was still foggy. We stopped by at the viewpoint, wanting to get some pictures of Chiang Mai downtown. But it was still soooo foggy that we barely see things.
If someone would've come out and told us that we were in a movie called "The Mist" or "The Fog". I'd honestly believe it.
The good thing is that in real life, it wasn't actually scary or anything. It's rather cool even to get some pictures in the mysterious fog like this. So we were just having fun with this fog as background.
I mean since we're not gonna see the Chiang Mai city view anyway. My friend and I decided to let just enjoy each other's company here. And we did!
Then the road took us to the temple called "Phra Maha Dhatu Nabhamethanidol and Nabhapolbhumisir" or in English "The Great Holy Relics Pagoda Nabhamethanidol and Nabhapolbhumisiri"
Quick Buddhist lesson: What is a Pagoda? A Pagoda is built to contain the received Buddha Relics and to allow all Buddhists to pay respect to them.
This specific pagoda was built for the 60th birthday anniversary of His Majesty the late King Bhumibol, aka Rama IX. The RTAF officers the Air Chief Marshal and the high-level officers mutually agreed to donate money to build a structure in commemoration of this auspicious occasion of RTAF and presented such building as a royal charity to His Majesty the King
Why? And why here?
For us, Thais. We felt a great deal of gratitude for the merciful late king to build the pagoda which shall be dedicated as the royal merit. Since His mercy is greater than the land and the sky, the pagoda must be located at the highest point of Thailand and in the hearts of all walks of life of Thai people.
We didn't stay long, because it was cold and we simply weren't prepared for this so we just went to pray and left. Coming down along the way there are some markets. You can shop many kinds of stuff that northern hill tribe people are selling.
The left picture is me in a clothes shop. And on the right is "Snow lotus" or in English Yacon. Which I believe belong to the family of Tubor crops, like potatoes and Cassava.
Here you can see a tribal lady selling dried candied fruits.
Now, we moved towards the city. I took my friend to one of the most famous temples in Chiang Mai, located right in the center, called "Phra Singh Temple"
Here you can see the seats, people can come here to meditate and pray. I, too, sometimes do that. Temple always gives me a good and calm energy. It's nice to have a peaceful place to be with yourself.
As I finishing up today's post. Let me show you how beautiful and golden the pagoda of Phra Singh Temple is.
Here you can see my friend is praying at the pagoda. If you get to see a pagoda, sometimes you can see some Buddhists praying and walking around the pagoda at the same time. It's very common to do that here.
Our day trip is still continuing, where I'll show you another temple and the famous Chiang Mai tradition "lantern", which I'm so proud to present here on Hive. So.. please stay tuned and I'll see you in the next one.
and always stay calm and enjoy the day, guys!
