This weekend I had the chance to visit Chascomús lagoon again in the province of Buenos Aires. A place that can surprise those who visit it. Because of its variety of attractions, one of which I was able to visit first was: “the castle of friendship or abandoned castle.”

Este fin de semana tuve la posibilidad de volver a visitar la laguna de Chascomús en la provincia de Buenos Aires. Un lugar que puede sorprender al que la visita. Por su variedad de atracciones de las cuales una de las que pude recorrer primero fue: ¨el castillo de la amistad o castillo abandonado¨
Saturday was quite special to go out for a walk and see what Chascomús had to offer me. After staying and settling in a small and comfortable log house. With all the basic and essential services. I went out to explore the place, the house was located 600 meters from the lake. So with the enthusiasm of a child who is going to receive a surprise, I decided to go to see the castle that I couldn't do some time ago for a specific reason.

El día sábado estuvo bastante especial para salir a caminar y conocer lo que tenía para ofrecerme Chascomús. Luego de Hospedarme e instalarme en una pequeña y cómoda casita de troncos. Con todos los servicios básicos e indispensables. Salí a recorrer el lugar, la casa estaba ubicada a 600 metros del lago. Así que con el entusiasmo de un niño que va a recibir una sorpresa decidí dirigirme a conocer el castillo que tiempo atrás no pude por equis motivo.

But he still stood upright, feeling majestic as a Hidalgo knight. And despite being mistreated by time and passers-by, it remained firm, imposing itself on the invasion of the vegetation.

Al llegar al lugar y ver la fachada era demasiado evidente, como, se veía bastante vandalizada por los visitantes que querían poner su toque artístico en el castillo. Llenando de grafitis sus antiguas paredes que estaban cubiertas por gamas de diferentes colores, que le restaban valor a esta maravilla que en su momento fue anfitriona de grandes reuniones. Pero que aun se mantenía erguido sintiéndose majestuoso como caballero Hidalgo. Y como a pesar de ser maltratado por el tiempo y los transeúntes seguía firme imponiéndose a la invasión de la vegetación.
The story of this castle is told more or less like this, a group of residents of a bar called ¨El National de Chascomús¨. Where Ángel Cannatelli, who was called “Angelito” was the owner of said bar. They celebrated their friendship by throwing big parties that lasted for days.

La historia de este castillo se cuenta más o menos así, un grupo de vecinos de un bar llamado ¨El National de Chascomús¨. Donde Ángel Cannatelli a quien le decían “Angelito” era el dueño de dicho bar. Una noche tomaron la iniciativa de formar una corte, para coronar a un Rey. En el día del amigo, para ellos, el 10 de octubre de 1945. Mucho antes que se declarara el 20 de julio décadas posteriores. Ellos celebraban su amistad haciendo grandes fiestas que duraban días.

Allá a mediados del siglo XX deciden construir el castillo con la colecta de dinero que recaudaron entre amigos del bar. Coronando a Angelito como Rey de Copas. En este castillo que se festejaba la amistad, contaba con un salón, bar, comedor, despacho real, habitaciones para los invitados y baños. Cuatro años después fallece Ángel Cannatelli y al no tener un sucesor, este reinado de la amistad desaparece con él.
The castle is abandoned, falling prey to looting until it falls into ruins. Today a usurper lives, according to some neighbors. This is an artist who makes works of art with scrap metal. El castillo queda abandonado siendo presa de saqueos hasta quedar en ruinas. Hoy en día vive un usurpador según dicen algunos vecinos. Este es un artista que realiza obras de arte con chatarras. Y las personas que visitan el emblemático lugar de Chascomús pueden ver una parte de sus obras que están distribuidas por todo el interior del castillo. De las cuales tomé algunas fotos que verán a continuación.
