A few kilometers from Puerto Madryn is the reserve of Punta Loma, a site with a great marine biodiversity among which we can highlight a large colony of sea lions of one hair, and several seabirds which make their nests on the cliffs.
The varied geography of the Golfo Nuevo provides excellent opportunities not only for tourists, but also for different species of marine animals that due to the difficult accessibility of humans to the place makes it a perfect place for the settlement of animals that need tranquility and not feel threatened by the presence of man. This is the case of the Punta Lomas Reserve.
A muy pocos kilómetros de Puerto Madryn se encuentra la reserva de Punta Loma, una sitio con una gran biodiversidad marina entre los que se puede destacar una colonia numerosa de lobos marinos de un pelo, y de varias aves marinas las cuales hacen sus nidos sobre los acantilados.
La variada geografía de las cosas del Golfo Nuevo brinda excelentes oportunidades no solo a los turistas, sino también a diferentes especies de animales marinos que por la difícil accesibilidad de los humanos al lugar hace que sea un perfecta para el asentamiento de animales que necesitan tranquilidad y no sentirse amenazados por la presencia del hombre. este es el caso de la Reserva de Punta Lomas.
Once you enter the reserve you will find a viewpoint, where you can see the colony of sea lions and where you can also see the birds that nest on the cliffs, which in this case are Black-necked Cormorants.
Thanks to the transparency of its waters you can see the sea lions playing in the water and feeding. If the weather is sunny and the sea is green to turquoise, a beautiful landscape can be appreciated.
Una vez que se ingresa a la reserva nos encontramos con un mirador, donde se puede apreciar la colonia de lobos marinos y de donde también se pueden visualizar los aves que anidan en los acantilados, que en este caso se trata de Cormoranes Cuello Negro.
Gracias a la transparencia de sus aguas puede verse a los lobos jugar en el agua y alimentarse. Si el clima acompaña y hay sol puede apreciarse un mar color entre verde y turquesa, lo brindando un hermoso paisaje.
The entrance to the reserve is free and it is ideal to visit it at low tide to appreciate the sea lions colony in a better way, because when the tide rises the spaces get smaller and many sea lions climb some rocks from where they can not be seen so clearly.
A few meters from the walkway from where sea lions can be seen, we find the cabin of the park rangers who are very kindly willing to provide all the information that one may require.
La entrada a la reserva es gratuita y lo ideal es visitarla con marea baja para poder apreciar la colonia de lobos marinos de una mejor manera, ya que al crecer la marea se achican los espacios y muchos lobos suben a algunas rocas desde no pueden verse con tanta claridad.
A escasos metros de la pasarela de desde donde pueden verse lo lobos marinos encontramos la casilla de los guardafaunas quienes de manera muy gentil están dispuestos a brindarnos toda la información que uno pueda llegara a requerir.
When you leave the viewpoint as if moving away from the coast on the right side we find a well marked trail which leads us to see the sea lion colony from another perspective that is very colorful. As you advance along the trail you will find explanatory signs of the flora characteristic of the area with its main properties.
Much of the flora of the sector was used by the native peoples of the area for medicinal purposes.
Cuando uno sale del mirador como alejándose de la costa sobre el lado derecho encontramos un sendero perfectamente delimitado el cual nos lleva a ver la colonia de lobos marinos desde otra perspectiva que es muy vistosa. A medida que se avanza por el sendero se encuentran carteles explicativos de la flora que característica de la zona con sus principales propiedades.
Mucha de la flora del sector era utilizada por los pueblos originarios de la zona con fines medicinales.
Many might believe, due to the aridity of the area, that the Patagonian coast is a barren place with few natural riches, but the reality is that the great biodiversity of marine fauna and flora that can be found in this region of the country is of immeasurable value.
We must not lose sight of the fact that at the time of the dinosaurs, this region was inhabited by the largest exponents that have ever inhabited the planet.

Muchos podrían creer por la aridez de la zona que la costa de la Patagonia son lugares estériles y con pocas riquezas naturales, pero la realidad es que la gran biodiversidad de fauna y flora marina que podemos encontrar en esta región del país es de un valor inconmensurable.
No debemos perder de vista que en la época de los dinosaurios esta región estaba habitada por los exponentes de mayor tamaño que hayan habitado el planeta.
