Dunes in Reñaca
Reñaca is the town located on the chilean coast, few kilometres north from famous Valparaiso. It's famous because of the dunes which are rounded by the city from three sides and the Ocean from the west.
The dunes provide entertainment (sandboarding, for me as fun as snowboar), are the great place for the meeting or sunbathing and remain important habitat for the local fauna.
The great thing is that dunes can look totally different in different seasons or even hour of the day. Photo which I'm presenting below was made during very foggy day. That created the scenery which reminds other planets or at least post apocalyptic world.
When the weather is nice, the scenery looks totally different. On sunny days that place is often visited by people who enjoy sandboarding (kind of snowboarding, but with the sand instead of snow), who make picnics on the sand, with the view of the Pacific Ocean, or who just come here to walk for a while and enjoy the marvelous landscapes.
If you will ever visit Chile, I'm pretty sure you will come to Valparaiso - one of the most popular tourist destinations. Take the opportunity to catch any public transport which goes north and visit Renaca - you won't regret it, I guarantee you.
While I was living in Chile for two years, I was visiting dunes almost every week and I never get bored of it.
