Namaste š
Hope you all are doing great!!!
I got to know that @pranavinaction lives nearby and heās also home nowadays. I always wanted to meet him and so we decided to go on a joint venture together in the Himalayas.
Meeting with @pranavinaction ā
We decided to explore the unexplored regions of the Shegli Mountain as there are many villages and areas here that are still unexplored. The Shegli road is recently constructed and it has not got popular with tourists as of now. All the people visiting here directly, go to Manali and others places like Sissu and Solang but no one knows about these untouched places yet. We decided to explore these mountains in Pranavās motorbike and I asked him to pick me up from my village. He was waiting for me right above my village in the road when I captured the photographs below.
It was really fun meeting Pranav in person and heās such a nice guy. We talked there for a while about random things and then started our journey.
Starting our journeyā
We started our journey around midday, and it was cloudy with clouds, forming a very unique pattern in the sky. We took the Pangan Road which is a quite narrow road, connecting Pangan Village. This is called Pangan Road because this road was mainly constructed to connect Pangan village to the highway, but recently many other villages like Shegli, Ksheri, Dharsha, Nayalag and Defri got connected to it when a new road intersected to it just before Pangan village.
While driving on this road towards Pangan village, you will have amazing views of Pir Panjal Range to your right and will see a lot of village is situated on the left bank of the upper Kullu Valley like Naggar, Sarsai, Jagatsukh, Chani etc. The Shegli Mountain on which you will be driving, comes under Dhauladhar Range of Himalayas and the mountain range right next to it is Pir Panjal so technically you will be driving on the last slopes of the Dhauladhar range.
Witnessing the most dramatic sky ever seenā
This road is built in a zigzag fashion as while climbing a mountain, Itās required to make roads like that to gain height efficiently. As soon as we turned towards the other side of the zigzag road we witnessed something really unique in the sky.
There was a thin layer of clouds all around and the slow winter air current made a very unique pattern in the sky. The sun was also shining bright behind the clouds, and the layer of clouds was so thin that the sun was also visible.
It simply felt like a great painter or an artist was up there in the heavens and was painting up the sky for us to witness. Weāve never seen such a dramatic sky in our lives.
Let me tell you, these photos are not at all paying justice to the beauty that we were seeing our naked eyes at the time. This photos can just show you the claims of it, but the real deal was when we were riding there on the motorbike with such mesmerising views in front of our eyes, that feeling, that cannot be expressed in photos or any kind of words.
And again, when we looked back the scanner was not looking as dramatic as it was looking towards west. The sun was also about to set in a couple hours, so we were already having that golden hues of sunset towards west. In short, we can say that we were at the perfect place at the perfect time, and we got to witness this perfect view.
Intersecting to the Shegli Roadā
After 15 minutes, we reached at the intersection from where the new road was constructed, and you need to take a left turn from the existing Pangan road. There is also a very big holding in with the same information is written, but thatās written in Hindi. You can see the Pangan road in the photograph below, leading straight while we were already on the newly constructed Shegli Road.
On the sign board, we noticed another thing, a waterfall was mentioned near Galun village which we didnāt know existed. We thought of exploring that waterfall too in near future.
It was a really steep incline when we took the left turn as you can see in the photograph below, but while we were climbing up the hill, the view was turning mesmerising. It felt like we were having a takeoff and it felt like we were taking off to space directly. It was such a beautiful feeling. Just after moments of turning left, we could already see many more villages from up there as we gained a lot of height in very short amount of time.
It felt like we are already very up in The Mountain, but in real, we were only Midway. We wondered how beautiful it would be when we reach the top.
This road was newly constructed a few years back, but in spite of that, we could see a lot of potholes in the road. This is mostly because of the heavy snowfall that this area experiences. Not just snowfall this area also experience a lot of heavy rain in monsoon time and thatās also a problem for the road. I wonāt complain about potholes much because the beauty of this area was compensating to a great extent to every thing that can be bad.
They were many pine trees on the side of the road just towards the edge and they were just looking amazing. Iāve tried to capture several of them for you guys. Pranav was driving the motorcycle, and I was having the time of my life. I was sitting in the back, enjoying the beautiful landscapes all around me and capturing the photographs. For you guys. We decided to switch seats after reaching Defri, our first top of the day so it was my time to have fun as of now.
Reaching Defriā
In the photograph below, you can see the zigzag nature of the road and Pranavās motorcycle parked on the side of the road. This was a place near to the Defri village, which we really liked as it was on the edge of the road, and we could see a lot of villages and the whole valley from up there.
We spent around 15 minutes there and talked about our journeys and future plans. We decided to do a lot of hikes and travels together as we live nearby, and also decided to stay in touch. It was a really great experience meeting him, and I look forward to meet him more often, and go on travels together.
We had a few more places to visit and now it was my turn to drive the motorcycle. Iām gonna write about further journey in the next blog.
Thanks for passing by.
