Julley Everyone!
A beautiful day! A beautiful Story! and Adventure everywhere!
Finally we made a decision to not turn back till we reach the Summit of Baralacha La Pass. Maybe the ending point of Lahul Spiti or the Beginning of the Last Himalayan Range. Zanskar.. We were not sure about it!
In my previous post as mention we reached Darcha. The last village of Lahul hardly 10-20 houses were there in the village and less that 100 people were living in the village situated at the most high altitude in the valley. Few of the people- the explorers do face altitude sickness and just imagine about the people staying at such a village that high!
I guess thinking about that made us motivated or reaching the top of the Pass was the motivation! We made a decision to cross the Peaks!
The greens of the nature was turning to the monochroms and the roads were as silent as a cloud in the sky! This place usually gets covered under a thick blanket of snow as it was the higher land and truly it was a masterpiece art of the highway construction at such an high altitude more than 15000 ft above the sea level.
It felt like that there was no higher ground than to as we where where. It felt like that it was quite close to the heaven and the sky.. I literally had no words to express the view guys! The place totally unknow. No network. No wifi. Nothing just us and these magical views of the Nature. Maybe it was the first time when these peaks were ever been captured in a photograph as it seems like! Somewhere between the heavens.!
There even was a huge river flowing just right by the side of the road. The with was quite a lot seemed like the great plains but the water flowing was quite less.. As the glaciers had melted and the higher ones were still frozen and melting at a very slow pace.
The unlimed and un named peaks!
Standing so high, higher than the clouds in the sky. As told by the locals of Lahul. They said that There are few passes that the older people before the roads used to cross in order to reach the Leh Ladakh region of the Himalayas. The Zanskar Range... The ancient technique that they used to cross the valleys was that they used to walk on the frozen rivers in the earlier summers when the snow used to be hard and the days used to be sunny even on the sunny days due to high altitude the snowfall would sometimes take place so walking just right along with the glacier river was something that made them the way.
So were the roads through which we were able to explore such extreme places. To be honest guys If there would be no such roads it would be nearly as hard as it could be crossing the mountain ranges at a pace. Thats the reason why the ancient Himalayan explorers would take years and years to complete their journey and most of them would spend their lives exploring such places. The villages at higher altitudes were maybe formed by the explores getting exhausted and deciding to stay at the place finding it safe.
No vegetation could be found miles and miles away! All that we could see was the loose rocks and dry soil as this place would have never received any rains! But it is a winter wonderland experiencing more than 10-20 feet snow every year.
There was another thing that a local told me about the snowfall at this region which was that the one side of the mountain always stays dry thought the year and never faces any snowfall as the peaks of this Himalayan belt is that kinda of structured that one side of the Mountain would receive the snow and the other side would get the cover due to its slope. Thats the main reason of formation of such a deep and dry valley as the other side of the mountain stays lush green and the other part stays cold and dry throughout making it totally different from the other places in our earth.
While we were driving a thought came into my mind! That why cant we reach the summit of the peaks of the Lahul and spiti. As being at such a high altitude it was like a few days expediton to reach the summit. There are few of the peaks on the Spiti valley that very few people try to climb and had climbed but on this region and the unclimbed peaks mostly the whole mountain is formed of the loose rocks that I saw closely through.
The peaks were totally tiny formations of loose dry hard rocks over which climbing was too far even walking is something that one cannot think about as if even a bit of it slides the whole mountain of the portion slides like a dry avalanche and during winters it was a true avalanche.
As seen in the picture above lies a summit of a high peak and its was all covered with the looses gravels! A person could try summiting it during the early spring when this portion is usually covered under the hard snow but it snow would be more than 20-30 feet. And even reaching this place would be quite a task as the altitude above would be more than 20000ft above the sea level.
The magical Ring!
While looking at the peak above we even saw this magic of nature.. A rainbow halo above the Sun and As clear as a crystal. The tiny ice crystals.
So that was the journey till now! Stay tuned for the adventure beyond this.. There are few of the astonishing stories that I have to share with you guys beyond this expedition that did we made our was to cross the Mountain Pass above 16000ft above the sea level!
So thats all for today guys! I hope you liked it. 🙏
Thanks for your precious time.🙏
Love from the Himalayas.❤️
