Julley Everyone,
Somewhere so far away beyond the places unknown at the moment I was, I was not sure where I was somewhere so remote so much far away from my hometown. Somewhere in these deep valleys, I was just lost in order to find myself and my whole journey was something that I’m not gonna forget for the rest of my life. Here I was somewhere in the isolated villages, isolated river belts of the northern Himalayas, the beginning of himalayan cold desert as far as I knew was this place.
It was a beautiful moment somewhere around 1 PM in the afternoon when I reached this place took a long drive from Rohtang Pass in order to reach at this destination as it was somewhere the beginning of the first villages of Lahul and Spiti Valley.
Just by the side of the road, there was the flowing of river Chandra that came all the way from Chandertaal the Lake of the Moon.
The place totally had an essence of two different types of vegetation as the altitude at the place it was more than 4000 metres above the sea level and it was. I would say above the non-tropical zone where the vegetation was limited, so it was a perfect brand of two different vegetations at the point. and then the beginning of the cold himalayan desert.
Started my journey of this morning as early as I remember 7 AM from Manali and after taking and crossing the himalayan pass of Rohtang, I reached the other side where it was just a whole change in vegetation because of the higher mountains so that block the winds coming from the other part in the higher Himalayas, the northern region, and that’s the reason why the place was having this type of vegetation which was dry. This called the himalayan cold desert.
This was the river Chandra that was originating from the Moon Lake Chandra Taal as previously mentioned in the water in the river, it was extremely deep and the flow too was extremely high in flow knows the depth of these glacier rivers. As during the winter season, the whole rivers they are frozen at the top, but the water still flows through the bottom parts of the river
Usually the whole time of the year. This whole place is covered with a thick sheet of snow that last for more than 7 to 8 months. Only this is the time of the year when the place is as dry as it looks like and during this time of the season, there even are countless number of glaciers that just go on melting and then forming up these waterfalls at the place, there were countless number of waterfalls that I found when I was wondering around this place as here is a quick glimpse of the photograph that I took while I was on my journey, and even you guys can spot the waterfalls from far away also.
And as per the geography and the location just right next to the river usually there are these farm lands so what they do here so to see that how people and even they arrived to live in such extreme climatic conditions and the people at the place they were really very tough as they have with stand and they have Blended into this extreme climatic conditions so that they could live here peacefully, and this is their homeland.
This was the time when I first spotted a place after long and long journey of more than 5-6 hours it was a sort of a shop or a house or a perfect mix blend of it.
Then followed by these Tibetan flags that were placed right next to it. Another thing that I noticed when I was at the place of the Tibetan culture, maybe it was closer to the Tibet or the influence was at the place. Then were these colourful flex denoting the different colours with the different elements of life used for the peacefulness around the place.
There even worse, these big flags with different colours at the place. It took me about two hours from the top of mountain pass in order to reach this place. It was the first village of Lahul and Spiti Valley, and then it starts the cold desert.
I was so amazed to see my friends that with the advancements in infrastructure and construction of roads and that too in such extreme climate conditions when the roads are only open for about 2 to 3 months as the whole place is blocked by snow and only in few these months Time the road is open and in order to reach such hidden places, then we have to wait for another time of the year in order to reach, but now with many roads that took from the other side of the mountain, the place has been accessible for more than eight months now that just extended from near about three months to 8 Months With the advancement in infrastructure. So amazed to see the place even till date, its unique culture, unique peacefulness, and a perfect vibe that blend is the nature in just a single frame.
After I covered the distance or I would say the beginning of entering the villages, then there were these farm lands just right next to the road along with the river. There were these farm lands, huge lands that had been formed by the local people and due to the cold climatic conditions, even the farms, even the vegetables that’s gonna grow in these farms would stay fresh and would grow, even though they’ll take a bit of a time, but the quality of the vegetables they would be extremely super good Even in the parts of the northern region of Himalayas and the places beyond these vegetables are quite a famous one as mainly, they include potatoes, peas, cauliflower, and much more.
I wondered around the place quite a while and capture these beautiful photographs and I’m gonna share my journey beyond the place in my upcoming blog post, so that’s all for today guys. I hope you liked it.
Love from the Himalayas. ♥️
