A place that made us stop. A place that made us think about. A place that made us to know and explore more about it. Was this!
Julley Everyone!
Just enjoying our day out here at Lahul and Spiti Region of Himachal Pradesh. And yes it was my first time visiting this unseen side of the Himayalas. Usually this portion is mostly covered under a thick blanked of snow but it was summers and we gat a chance to explore this hidden gem of the Himalayas.
This part of our journey was quite unique that I will be sharing with you guys today. A thing that we noticed and made us stop. Though it was the beauty of this place but was something else.
It was around 1PM when we reached this place.. Kinda unknown but as far as I remember it was around 1-2 hours away from Jispa.
While we were driving we saw this place!
A river flowing and the whole wide valley was a magical thing! A Valley wider than it could be and the whole part near the river seemed like the plains. Everything was kinda crystal clear even the peaks which were of the Zanskar Region or the Last Himalayan Peaks situated above 7000m from the sea level.
THe mountains which were right in fornt of up seemed like a Huge Pyramid, Everything just felt like a dream and I just imagined that how beautiful would this place be during the extreme winters when this whole world used to be under the snow!
We hand no idea about this place.. . The name of then place! If it would be.. No houses no vegetation....
Just few tiny tress trying to grow but due to extreme climatic conditions seemed like that they failed.
We were just getting attracted to the place more and more and it seemed like that this road would be a never ending journey.
Reached this bridge! one of the longest bridge I had even seen in my entire like. It was literally more than a kilometre and just think about it guys that how wide would the river would get if it used to get full during the extreme melting of the glacier or floods.
This place was usually isolated. Only few cars would pass through the road that too who were crossing the passes in order to reach the Leh Ladakh Region of the Himalayas.
Few landslides, Few broken patches! Thats was a road to an adventure would take us to!
As per our journey we were planning to drive for hew hours more as even the network was fluctuating and the atmosphere felt quite thin. It had been more than six hours since we were traveling as we were getting closer to the higher altitude more scenic were the views.
The vegetation looked something like this short bushy grasses and soil at it driest. Thats how a cold desert look like. It seemed like that that soil had become as dry as it could get. Which made me think that how could few of the people would stay at such extreme harsh climatic conditions. Though most of the locals have shifted to other regions due to extreme winters but the once who used to live in such places! Its truly a difficult task.
The road it was literally like we were driving through a pathway between the mountains. Thinking about the mountain style crossing the whole Pir Panjal Valley and reaching at the beginning of Zanskar Range.. Crossing nearly three of the Mountain Ranges it nearly an impossible task guys.. but with the roads, through the roads at above 5000m above the sea level it was possible.
I was so grateful that I got an opportunity to see and explore the lahul and spiti valley especially in the monsoon season where over here the whole region is dry and the Pir Panjal valley is facing the heavy rains. I got to know that just right after the next day when we came back there had been a big cloud burst near the North Portal of Atal Tunnel so such misshaping are quite common but we were lucky enough that we did not face any difficulties like these.
Crossing the Danger
I am especially calling it a danger as such portions are the most dangerous ones in such cold deserts as the soil or the land is dry and the on a warm sunny day the whole glacier/ avalanches melt and the water flows at a tremendous speed by which people usually get stuck..
As of now as seen the water is frozen and is flowing slowly but in such case mentioned above it can rise in few seconds.
What I think and feel is that in Mountains we have to live in a mountains way.. If we refuse it then the mountain teaches us..
Just right after the water flowing we decided to stop and spend some of our time out here gazing the natural pyramids of Lahul Valley.
The unclimed peaks of Lahul and Spiti.
So thats all for today guys. I hope you liked it . 🙏
Thanks for your precious time. ❤️
Love from the Himalayas.
