Summer of June 2016
14 days in Iceland.

[Vik]
The day before, I spent a day in Vestmanneyjar, a crater with such a fascinating landscape, and then came back by ship. Hitchhiking takes me to Seljalandsfoss again, and then to coastal city blackened by volcanic ash.

These are paprika powder, pickled spicy garlic, and dried smoked ham. Especially, pickled garlic is added spicy olive oil, which is a taste that Asian would definitely like. It's one of the must-buy items.

I'm on my way to take a ship to come back to main island. I walked across the town looking around. I felt that Iceland is so close to the real nature.

Before I started journey, I decided to stop by the mart and buy something to eat. This is the pickled garlic. The price is 299 ISK, so it's about 2.2 USD. It tastes good, but there's nothing to throw away when camping with primitive man. Haha

Wow, what a lucky price it is!! It was selling a pony of bad condition bananas on sale for 0.7 USD.!! I bought them right away. It usually coasts 2~3 USD.

I was trying to keep light in weight, takes up less in volume, doesn't require much refrigeratior for 'poor primitive camping trip' and toast bread that I can eat without cooking, was the best.

This is near the harbor. I started to charging electronic devices in the dock.

New hitchhiking drivers from UK!
They actually stopped for the couple who were standing in front of me eariler. But there was only the seat for one person, so the couple asked to drivers to pick me up :D
1 hr later, they took me to Vik, a representative city in the south of Iceland.

I visited Vik before in winter, February 2015. At that time, all of things covered with snow and too windy and cold. In contrast, summer could feel a new growing life.

There was statue I didn't see in the winter.

This red roof church is the landmark of Vik. It's impressed to see the view with blue sea.

This is a picture of the black beach that came during the winter in 2015. Even though it was really cold winter, foreign tourists took off their clothes and tried to go into the sea.

I recommend you to go in the summer to fully enjoy the beautiful Vik. Getting warm sunshine on a nice day is the way to enjoy the beach. However, since Iceland is still located in a high altitude, it can be cold when the wind blows, so take your coat!
