Hello there!
Having completed my earlier travel posts on several interesting countries, such as Japan, Maldives, Indonesia and US, it's probably time to share about my recent Europe trip! If you are keen to find out which countries and cities I visited, you can read the quick summary here.
There is actually a back story behind this trip. My friend and I planned this trip a few years back and it was supposed to take place in Apr 2020, but as most of you would know, Covid 19 pandemic came and we had to cancel the trip due to all the travel restrictions and health advisories. So we planned for this trip in 2025 and it finally materialised!
Documenting all my entries for this 2025 Europe Trip:
Turkey - An Istanbul Adventure: From Blue Mosque to Bazaars
France - Exploring The Parisian Icons: Effiel Tower And Arc De Triomphe
France - Wandering Through Paris: The Louvre and Jardin des Tuileries
France - Strolling Through Paris: Notre Dame And The Seine
One of the must visits places in Paris is definitely the Montmartre area. Initially I was wondering if the trip would be worth it because most people just talk about the likes of Effiel Tower and Louvre Museum when it comes to Paris, and some of the guides actually mention to wear comfortable shoes because there will be some climbing of stairs. Anyway, since I already flew many hours to Paris, I decided I should go ahead to explore.
The amount of stairs to climb from the Metro to the exit of the Metro Station was actually a scary reminder of what's about to come. I couldn't remember how many steps there were but we went past groups of people who were just taking breaks in the narrow staircase.
And finally when we came out, what greeted us was this Wall Of Love. If you look closer, it's "I Love You" in different languages. After being in Paris for a couple of days, it's not surprisingly to see these artsy stuff in random places. Hehe.

There were a couple of such walls in the area too, be it shops or cafes.

It might not so clear from the photo but the terrain is inclined. We made our way slowly up based on the direction to the landmark of this place, which would be Basilique du Sacré-Cœur.

More stairs to climb! Up up up we go!

And we finally Basilique du Sacré-Cœur came into our view! But more stairs awaited us as well.

Finally we reached the entrance! There were lots of visitors here and it's no surprise why everyone was here. The basilica was indeed a spectacular sight!

We also wandered to the side to capture the side view as well.

Because we climbed so many steps to reach here, we were greeted by a panoramic view of Paris too! Look at that amazing view! This was so unexpected for me. For those who might not know, there aren't many skyscrapers in Paris and most buildings are not as high, so that explains the view.

There were also green spaces for the locals and visitors to chill, soak in the views, or just to hang out with friends.

As we made our way all the way down, this was the view of the basilica at the bottom.

It was definitely a morning exercise for me because we climbed so many stairs up and then took the stairs down as well. But I did not regret a single bit. The basilica was so spectacular and the panoramic views were so amazing. If you have some time in Paris and are looking for something outside of the typical tourist attraction, Montmartre is a place you definitely should not miss!
So that's all I have today! Have you been to Paris or France? Let me know in the comments below!
