Hello there!
Having completed my earlier travel posts on Japan (Tokyo, Osaka and Hokkaido) and Maldives, I saw that World Map Pin had the Winter Challenge #winterchallenge, so I thought I should give it a shot! Being in a country that is summer all year round, I went through some of previous overseas trips for some winter stuff, and I managed to find some interesting stuff!
And then while I was reading the Halftime post, I noticed they mentioned this:
So far we have seen a lot of snowy winter posts, Christmas markets, and adventures in the cold. Only a few brought in some warm in here. - So we remind you again: The post doesn't need to be winter-related, you can also write about escaping the cold and bringing us some sunshine!
So thinking along those lines, I thought of sharing how I spent my final days of 2023 at Bali, Indonesia. While it's summer all year round in South East Asia, Bali is one place that many Westerners come to escape the cold winter, and there's ample sunshine here!
Bali is a very happening place, and there's a lot of activities which visitors can do, be it beach activities, sightseeing and nature places, or just chilling at the beach bars and getting some tan. For cafe lovers, there's a lot of nice cafes too! And when it comes to beaches and resorts, there are many great massage places and spas for one to relax or to get a good body scrub.
For this post, I wanted to share the scenery at Bali's beaches at different parts of the day and night. And because it was my first time spending the New Year's countdown at Bali last year, I got to witness an awesome show of fireworks on the night of 31 Dec as the entire beach crowd counted down to 2024.
So this was the beach at Seminyak area during the day! Warm sunshine, blue skies, cool waters and I personally loved listening to the sound of waves hitting the shore. It's so therapeutic! The weather was pretty hot so there were not many people playing on the beach. Most of them were under the shades at the beach bar, sipping their beer or juices.
It's time to catch the sunset! On one of the days there, the stars aligned and we were able to make our way to the beach in the evening, just in time to witness the sunset! This was about 1800h over there. As you could see, the weather was not as hot as the morning/afternoon so there were much more people on the beach!
There were also many people chilling at the beach, who were there to witness the sunset, just like us.
There were also people playing soccer on the beach too!
10 minutes have passed and the time was 1810h. The sun was visibly lower and the sky started to turn darker.

Finally the sun disappeared through the horizon, but many people still remained on the beach, soaking in the scenery and enjoying the moment. It's amazing how the sun rises and sets everyday but across the world, there are always people admiring this occurrence everyday.
As I mentioned earlier, this was a bonus treat! On the final day of 2023, the hotel staff recommended that we visit the beach at night because there will be fireworks! And it was really special and exciting to be able to soak in the celebrations with the locals and visitors to welcome the new year!
These two photos were taken near the stroke of midnight! The fireworks intensified and it was a real beauty to watch the fireworks show from the beach area because it was a whole landscape view.
