One of the days, when visiting my sister in Riga, we decided to see an illusion museum called "Cosmos". I have heard many good things about it before. And it turned out to be a good outing too!
Museum sits right behind the Rīgas Doms (Lutheran church also known as Riga Cathedral). Look to the right. Isn't it a beauty?
Latvians are predominantly Lutherans, by the way.
In summer the square by the church is filled with tables and also a market. In winter this space becomes a Christmas market.
At the museum, the ticket wasn't expensive and was purchased at a desk, which I found a bit random. A lady was actually sitting, working at the desk.
The first thing we saw was this cool room where you become a giant or a miniature. My niece and my son each were trying to be one or the other. Messes with your head for sure.

Opposite the optical illusion room was a black box. We were putting our faces to one end and checking the view from the other. Look below, there was only one bear, but the mirrors all around it made it into a kaleidoscope of thousands.
The same room had plenty of little things to try like posters and other stuff. We, on the other hand, were quite interested in taking pictures of the "chair". My sister was all the way at the back and my niece was at the front, trying to puzzle a chair together. Again, a tale of a giant and a miniature.
There was a dark room too, where people disappear. Check out the video.
Following the corridor, we enjoyed the mirror maze. At one point I literally bounced against the mirror, thinking it is a way out. Kids were running there like crazy. It was done really smart.
Next to it was the tiny room where you could create shades. In a usual setting, you get one shade of a hand for example. Here you had three, can you spot them all?
The next room had a bunch of stuff to do. A very popular exhibit was this upside-down room. Loved it! Although it turned out to be a task of making yourself look like an illusion in the photos.
My favourite part of the museum was the floor! I was dizzy walking on it, my brain was not computing. Check out the video for a walk!
Have you seen yourself from all angles? If not, head to the illusion museum. Mirrors are a big part of the exhibits, they are everywhere!
Probs the last room, hidden away around the corner was this dark mirrored room with changing lights. It felt as if you were in space. Seriously, I did not want to leave it. I guess the name of the museum sums it up pretty nicely.
All in all, it wasn't big and we thought might as well do one more round of all the exhibits. So, for something a little more different include this museum in your day trip when visiting Riga. It is worth it and it doesn't take long at all.
