Hey hivers!! 🖐️
So last week, me and my husband went on a mini adventure 🥹 haha! We were in Butuan City cause I needed to renew my license, and at the same time, my bff Glor is getting married!!
Glor is from Surigao del Sur and I live in Surigao del Norte, so we’re not that close location-wise haha, but we go way back — like college pa. So obviously, I HAD to be there for her big day
Plan A: bus ride from Langihan 🚌
At first, our plan was super chill. We were supposed to ride a bus from Langihan Terminal (that’s the main terminal in Butuan, btw! It’s in Brgy. Doongan and super busy with lots of trips going to Surigao, Davao, Agusan, etc). We were ready to go there but...
the sun was out
the breeze was nice
and the vibes? immaculate
So guess what? We changed plans and said, “Let’s take the motorcycle instead!”
Google said 4 hours. reality said: LOL
We checked Google Maps and it said it’ll take 4 hours to reach Bislig City, which is part of Surigao del Sur. Sounds okay, right?
WELL. It took us 8 hours
We got lost. Like, real lost. We were just following signs, guessing half the time, and depending on Google Maps when there was signal lol. But you know what? It made the ride more fun. We were laughing at ourselves the whole way.
Random stopover at… NOBENTA 👀
So along the way, we stopped at this place called Nobenta Viewpoint. If you’re from Surigao area, you probs heard of it already. It’s along the Surigao–Davao Coastal Road, somewhere between Claver and Carrascal. It’s called “Nobenta” cause it’s near the 90-kilometer mark. Makes sense
AND WOW. The place was 🔥
Super high up, and you can see the sea, mountains, trees — like painting in real life.
The spooky stuff 👻
TBH, I didn’t wanna pass Nobenta at first. Like… people talk about it a lot. Some say may multo (ghost). Others say it’s a cursed road 😭 And yeah, it’s kinda steep, lots sharp curves, and dangerous if you’re not careful.
But guess what?
Our ride was super smooth. No weird things. No ghosts (thank God HAHA). Just peaceful air and a magical view. I even said sorry in my mind for judging the place
Finally! the wedding vibes
After hours of guessing roads and stopping for snacks (lol), we reached Surfing Camp in Cagwait, Surigao del Sur — that’s where the wedding was held. The place is sooo nice It’s known for its beach, white sand, good waves, and chill resort vibes. Locals love to go there to surf or just relax.
Glor looked soooo beautiful. I was one of her bridesmaids, and while she walked down the beach aisle, I legit cried I was like, “OMG my bestie is getting married. FINALLY.” 🥹
We’ve been through so much together — dorm days, heartbreaks, food trips, 3 AM chikahan. And now we’re both in our married girl era lol 💍
2 Nights of peace 🏖️
We stayed at Surfing Camp for 2 nights. Super worth it. The food, the beach, the fresh air… it was like a reward after that long ride. My husband and I had a moment walking by the shore, talking about life and how time flies. 💑
Missing one bff 💔
We were actually 4 in the group. But one of our bffs passed away during the pandemic, because of COVID. I still get emotional thinking about her.
I really wish she was there with us…. While we were taking pics, I whispered, “I hope you’re watching us from above.” I know she would’ve been so happy for Glor…. 🕊️💫
Time to go home... before nobenta turns creepy again 😅
The next morning, we decided to leave early case we didn’t wanna pass through Nobenta at night. There are some stories like scary things happen there in the dark. Shadows, wrong turns even with GPS, mysterious noise… so yeah. Better safe than sorry 😅
We drove slow and careful on the way back. Still tired, but our hearts were so full.
What I learned ✨
This trip reminded me:
✔️ Sometimes the “wrong turn” is part of the adventure
✔️ Show up for the people you love — always
✔️ Don’t believe every scary rumor (but also... wag pasaway LOL)
✔️ Magical places like Nobenta exist...💫
✔️ And time with your people? Super precious.
Thanks for reading, Hivers!
Until the next ride, the next stop, the next story...! 🚗💨
Don’t forget to pause, breathe, and enjoy the view wherever life takes you….
💛
