My life is my message - mkgandhi
We visited Sabarmati Ashram, two years back and I was going through the photos yesterday to refresh my memories - to plan for some travel this year. The ashram is nicely maintained portraying the simplicity of living of the father of our nation. On entering you can feel the calm ambience. Here is the site map, that gives you the high level view.
We went to the back side straight - the government has done a nice job of renovating the entire river bank. How good it will feel to have a walk here in the morning or afternoon.
And then we entered the Ashram - the tile houses that symbolizes the old homes.
This is where Gandhiji was leaving - a simple house that is no less than a temple.
The original the spinning wheel that he used to manually spin the yarn is still kept in tact. And there were tough rules being followed in the Ashram - discipline was his key to life.
This Ashram was built in 1917 and became his residential quarter from 1918 to 1930.
And now look at the prayer - so much of learning.
To honor the Gandhian values, a lady explained us how to use a small spinning wheel - Gandhiji used to carry one wherever he went. They still spin the yarn everyday.
These are the values that was being practiced in life - his life was his message to the humankind.
Here comes the room of Kasturba - Gandhiji's wife. And besides a guest room.
Read that ? Dedicated herself for the Mahatma's mission - body, soul and all in a manner that has few parallels.
The chronology of events above that made this man from Mohan to Mahatma - the greatest soul who lived in an Ashram to make himself stronger - here is how it looks inside of the house.
Here comes the kitchen - they definitely did not need a lot of utensils for simple living.
Mom got very emotional seeing this place and sat for some time.
The roof top being perfectly managed the old way - all wood. The place is so calm and peaceful - visiting here would remind you how a simple living can bring peace in life.
The place consecrated for morning and evening prayers - an essential part of Satyagraha.
Speak no evil, see no evil and hear no evil - the famous inspirational message - and portraits symbolizing them. Do you believe in this message ? I do. I cannot stop seeing evil or hearing evil, but I do not speak evil. And I do not practice evil - never in my life. It's unfortunate to see people around me trying to see evil and become happy in that - now a days, there are many such people who takes pleasure in seeing others suffer.
There is a Museum that has plethora of information, along with some great information and photographs of the greatest living saint - possibly it will be hard to believe after few centuries that such a man existed. I will just present as much here for you to have an insight.

Look at the above photo - I could feel the sainthood in him. One person who changed this world - I could not easily pass this and stood there for almost 10 minutes just looking at this. I can say, this is the best capture of this place.

One will definitely get emotional going through these - not because what he did for this nation, but because how he thought. Only a saint can do it. I got emotional for some time.
There is a big store, that sells varieties of items and employs lot of people. I heard some people come and work there for free - they have money, but they want to serve for the mankind.
Have you been anytime ?
Sometimes back I did a blog about Gandhiji's birth place here , he was borne rich. But he gave up everything and the world knows what happened next. He earned it - the Mahatma......the greatest soul that earned us the 🇮🇳
