Recently we visited Toshali Sands - the first ethnic luxury beach resort at my place that is shining since last three decades. I remember we heard about this hotel when we were in our twenties - yes, this was the first beach resort that caught the eyes of rich people at that time. The kids were pretty excited to go for this trip as this was our first trip after Covid - so as the lady. So we did some shopping before going to this place and were ready with new get up. It's a two hour journey from my home, so we started in the morning and reached there around 12 pm. We had a booking of two days with all meals package.
On arriving there, we were offered the welcome drink and the staff at reception did a good job of quickly allocating our room - a villa that could accommodate four of us. The entrance is perfectly decorated with the deities of our divine God Lord Jagannath along with a sand art - justifying the name of the place.
Once the formalities were completed, we were requested to head to our room using a battery operated small car, leaving our car at the parking lot. The villa is the best category of room there, apart from which, they have normal air conditioned rooms, deluxe room, executive -deluxe room and cottages.
If you look at the structure, they are aesthetically built to match the architectures of the temples of Odisha, my place being the Temple City of the World. The villa was pretty spacious inside having one bed room, one living room and two wash rooms - good enough for all of us.
Up is the view of the living room from the bed room. And here is the living room.
The kids decided to use the bed room, this sofa in the living room was converted to another bed for us. And the wash rooms were good as well - it was really nice to have fans there, because the temperature soared to 36°C on the day we arrived there - the first day of our summer you can say.
After relaxing a bit inside the room, we decided to roam a little around this mega place spread over an area of 30 acres before going for lunch.
The lush green gardens in the surrounding provides so much relief to the eye - we did not realize before spending more than a hour in the scorching hot weather before heading towards the restaurant.
This is the interior of the restaurant, full of Pattachitra - a traditional painting of my place that captures intricate details of mythological narratives and folktales, painted with natural colors. There are few specific places where these are done and sold, but these would have been ordered specially for this place. If I ever buy a house, I will decorate that with these paintings - they emit so much of positive energy. Each of these painting narrate a story. Would you like to buy them ?
The place was very crowded on that day - there was a meet going on , that was arranged by a pharma company and they booked almost all rooms except villas. They arranged a buffet lunch for everyone in the restaurant. Though there was plenty of place to sit, those people were literally standing near the food to finish quickly. But we did not hurry and had a very relaxed time in the cool ambience.
The staffs were very courteous and I must say the food was amazing - I literally tasted each item, before calling it a close on the non-veg. The staff served us hot tandoori rotis ( Indian flat bread) at the table. Kids were very happy with the food - usually they are the ones who always complain. They ate so much that, they wanted to take little rest and headed straight to the room.
The above is the outside view from the restaurant. You can imagine, how it would feel to eat looking at this beautiful view. And they have a dedicated area for sand art inside on the way to washroom.
Some nice sculptures placed on the way adding to the aesthetics of the place.
Everyone was in favor of sleeping except me - its hard to get sleep at night if I sleep in the day. So I forced them to get up and go out to enjoy the place. The freezer was missing in the room, so I asked the room service guys to bring one. By the time they fixed the freezer after which I locked the door and came out, I thought, there was a heroine standing there :) They forgot about being tired and started the photo shoot.
Out of nowhere a monkey gang appeared, a baby monkey coming close in front of my daughter and she shouted and ran a sprint - it was so much fun.
A family selfi was deserved in the hanging bench.
Isn't the place very scenic ? It would have been nice to be here just few days back, when the weather was pleasant. But we had to wait till the kid's exam were over. The kids wanted to check, if there were any games they could play, so we headed towards the reception to ask. ON our way, someone pointed us to the Game room, only to find out it being closed, which was a bit disappointing. We had to go to the reception to inquire, why it was closed and then they called that person to open the room. In the mean time, we did capture some more pictures.
I will continue this post as I am getting "Error uploading image, Request failed with status code 500", anyone knows why it shows up ? Is there a limit of daily size of data or number of pictures that one can upload ?
