Hail to the Hive!
So a super early ( by our new routines standards ) start this morning as we want to make the City in time to enjoy a visit with family. The weather is good. We can esily do an outdoor meet up living like this and the restrictions allow for it.
Let's Go!
When we pulled up on the previous night we were only about 8 miles from destination. In a narrowboat that would take time, especially so as there were a bunch more locks to do which slows you up considerably. But we are trying not to feel rushed.
Hmmm hope there are no boats coming the other way as this stretch looks a tad overgrown and there's only a narrow stretch to squeeze the boat through. I do hope no more stuff gets caught in the propeller as this would net be an easy location to break down, and it's happened too many times recently so it does make me think about it as we slowly creep through.
oooh 4 miles, agonisingly close now and this stretch is looking familiar as we used to cycle up here as we lived close to the canal many years ago.
Now this is the Kings Lock Cafe. It used to be a Lock Keepers cottage back in the day but is now a Cafe and one we used to go to many years back and indulge in coffee , Ice cream and @millycf1976 was fond of their Ginger Beer. Alas it's closed at the moment which is possiibly a good thing as it would have held us up longer than we needed to be. We can always visit here on the way out of Leicester in a week or so.
I can see from @millycf1976's smile that she really wanted a ginger beer.
Now we are really here.
The King Power Stadium
Home to the Mighty Foxes!
Leicester City Football Club
The Biggest Sporting Team Underdogs in History😄 Yes I am a big fan and we all used to have season tickets back in the day. Love my team.
Badger & Fox
And now the entrance to the city. It's kinda cool being th only boat on the canal. I am loving this.
Beautiful day and the canal in the city to ourselves.
Simply Marvelous.
Now there should be some floating moorings at Castle Gardens up ahead. Castle Gardens is right in the City Centre so the perfect place for us to moor up for our stay.
My face says it all. It's been a very long time but i am back in my hometown on my narrowboat. It's such a nice feeling.
Not a bad little spot for a while.
Walking distance for my Mum to come say Hi!
