Say hello to The Greenery, located in the vibrant town of Baliwag, Bulacan, Philippines. The location is at least one and a half hours away from Metro Manila. This location is often selected for prenuptial ceremonies, team-building events, and debutante parties. The Greenery offers a variety of venues, including a lighthouse, pavilion, open garden, grand ballroom, clubhouses, barn house, floating gazebo, and accommodations for guests who wish to stay.
I got to experience seeing this place in person. My colleagues and I were invited to attend the Face-to-Face Conference 2022 of the CODITE-NCR or the Council of Deans for Information Technology Education – NCR. The event was attended by deans and department chairs from various universities in the National Capital Region, including representatives from our university.
We not only attended the event, but we also handled the technical and media production aspects of it. My friend, Rodjan, takes the overall technical production, while our other colleague, Timothy, is the cameraman. Then I handle the media production and do on-the-spot editing of slide decks.
During the break, we had the experience of touring inside the venue. But only around the area of the side where we experienced the USA atmosphere. First is where the event was held – the barn house.
Their barn house was inspired by the ones that we see in America. When we saw the barn house, I felt that “Wow!” expression inside me. That was the first time I saw an actual barn house in the Philippines since the usual houses for animals in our country are typical houses, like stables for horses, coops for hens, and pigpens for pigs. Then some animals like cows and goats are usually around the farmland.😁
The barn house in The Greenery has an authentic American look and can serve as a unique venue for parties or weddings. On the left side of the barn house, there is a bar counter where various wines, beers, and alcoholic beverages are served. We could not taste their drinks during our stay since no bartender was at the counter.🍻
Aside from the barn house, their guest houses are also inspired by the simple homes in North America. However, at nighttime, the atmosphere can be slightly eerie as my mind conjures up images of the typical settings for horror films. As you can see in the picture below, that is the actual look outside the houses at night.
During our second day at The Greenery, we decided to check out the pool by the gazebo. Unfortunately, we couldn’t swim since we didn't bring any proper attire. Although there are no house rules in the pool, it is still proper if we wear appropriate clothing. So, we enjoyed the view instead and rested in the cottage.
During our visit to the pool area, we were caught napping inside the cottage by our college dean. It was already after the event had finished, and we were planning to leave around 3 PM, so we decided to take a quick nap before departing.🏊♀😴
Before leaving, I photographed a lovely house in The Greenery. It had an American-inspired design, complete with a US flag proudly displayed. It made me wonder if the owner might be American. Many people there took a photo of it, and some made it as their background in their pictures since it is genuinely a good photography spot. Your audience might think you went to America, but it’s not. 😊
In our overall experience, we only went to 1/4 of The Greenery. We couldn’t see the other venues and facilities since some were occupied. But I hope that the next time we return to that place, I will surely go to the lighthouse and the floating gazebo. I should include it in our bucket list of dream destinations in the Philippines.
