Hello friends, due to work-related matters I was in the area near Rome and decided to take the opportunity to have a quick tour of the city. It had been a while since I visited the capital of Italy and I wanted to see what it was like at the moment. Unfortunately, many of my friends have told me that Rome is currently going through a period of decay, so I wanted to see for myself.
In this post I want to share with you my impressions of Rome. I must admit that despite the negative forecast, I was pleasantly surprised by the beauty and history that the city continues to convey. I visited some of the most iconic sites such as the Roman Forum, the Pantheon and the Cestia pyramid, and was amazed by their majesty. In addition, I had the chance to explore some less touristy neighbourhoods and discovered that they hide little artistic and cultural gems.
My last visit to Rome gave me the opportunity to see something really unique and special: the Cestia Pyramid. This was the first time I had the opportunity to visit it and I must say that it was a truly amazing experience.
The Cestia Pyramid is something you do not expect to find in the city of Rome, especially since there are not many other pyramids in Italy. In fact, this pyramid was built by a Roman emperor who wanted it to be his tomb. During all my previous visits to Rome, I had never had the opportunity to see it and this time I finally did.
It was a real surprise for me to discover that this construction exists and that it is still in excellent condition. Its original form, built around 2000 years ago, is well preserved, and its location within the city makes this building truly unique. I really enjoyed this experience and look forward to returning to Rome to see more sights and attractions.
Despite this, I cannot deny that there are also some signs of decay. I have noticed a certain amount of dirt and neglect in some areas and I have felt that security could be better. However, I think these problems only underline the importance of keeping this historic and valuable city in good condition.
As always, the Pantheon left me truly impressed. Its architecture is simply amazing and never ceases to amaze. Unfortunately, I did not have the chance to visit the Imperial Forum area, but I was told that now that it has been pedestrianised it is even easier to see. I hope to be able to return soon and have more time to enjoy all that this wonderful city has to offer.
Compared to the last time I had been, I noticed that there were a lot more people around, which did not surprise me, considering how popular this city is with tourists. This is really a good thing, because it means that more and more people have the opportunity to appreciate the beauty and culture of Rome. I also saw that there were many more shops and restaurants open than before, which made me think that the city's economy is thriving.
During my last visit to Rome, I did not have much time to explore the city, but I tried to make the most of what I had. Nevertheless, I did not manage to visit all the monuments that I would have liked to, of course, given the limited amount of time. However, I did my best to see the most important sights.
I must say that walking through the streets of Rome is always a pleasure for me. Walking across its beautiful bridges, admiring the architecture and history surrounding the city is always a unique experience.
Overall, I was very impressed by the city and can't wait to return to explore even more and discover all its wonders.
At the end of my visit to Rome, I have to say that I did not find the city in a state of decay as I feared. Sure, there are some cleanliness problems in some areas, but you also have to consider the large flow of tourists that the city receives on a daily basis and that affects this aspect.
In terms of security, I had no problems, except near the station, which as always is a slightly more problematic area. But otherwise I felt quite safe and comfortable while exploring the city.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and appreciated the beauty and history of the city. Rome has always been a wonderful city and will continue to be one of my favourite destinations.
Thank you for reading this post and I hope you enjoyed the photos I shared. The truth is that I didn't take many, because I was in a crazy hurry and focused mainly on exploring the city.
But I hope the ones I shared gave you an idea of the beauty and naturalness of Rome. I would love to hear your opinions and if you have any other questions about the city I will be happy to answer them. Thanks again for following me and for your attention.
