I recently visited Bluewater Sumilon Island Beach Resort in Oslob, Cebu, and I must say, it was one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. If you enjoy beaches, pristine water and a tranquil environment this island is right for you. The trip to Sumilon Island began with a brief boat ride from Oslob. The water was so clear that I could already appreciate small fishes swimming beneath the surface. The ride didn’t take long, but I was already excited as the island came into view. The white sand, blue water, and lush greenery made me feel like I was in paradise.
As soon as I got there, I was welcomed by the resort staff, who were extremely kind and made me feel at home right away. The resort was very nice, as it combined state of the art modern facilities with the natural charm of the island. It was peaceful, like I was miles from the noise and disorder of the city. The first thing I noticed was the water. It was that clear and blue that it almost looked like something painted from a postcard. The beach sand was soft and white, ideal for walking in bare feet. The island is not an overwhelming size, but and it does have lots to please.
A particular pleasure during my stay was witnessing the iconic Sumilon Island sandbar. I had seen pictures of it before, but by seeing it herself was . The sandbar varies in shape and size according to the tide and thus is interesting and appealing. As I was, the sandbar projected out to sea, with shallow water containing crystal-clear water all round. I walked for a while along the sandbar, getting buoyed by the feel of the soft sand between my toes. Because the water was so pure I could even identify the bottom when I waded, for example. It was perfect for swimming, and the view was breathtaking. The combination of the blue sky, clear water, and white sand made me feel completely relaxed and happy to be in such a beautiful place.
Sumilon Island contained a lot to do, for example. I began to swim and the I enjoy the underwater scene. For a bit of adventure, I also tried kayaking. I rented a kayak and paddled all the way along the shore, which was a good way to experience the island from a new angle. For the hiking lovers, the trails on the island lead to beautiful scenes of the sea and the hinterland, providing another way to relate with the nature.
After spending hours on the beach and in the water, I decided to explore the resort itself. Bluewater Sumilon is complete with everything to provide a pleasant and soothing stay. The rooms are comfortable and a lot of them have stunning ocean views which is well suited for relaxation. The resort also has a swimming pool, which is a great alternative to the beach if you want to relax in a different setting. I took lunch at the resort's eatery and they did a great job with fresh, flavorful seafood. The meal was made even better by the view of the sea right in front of me. Dining while enjoying the natural beauty of the island was a special experience that I’ll never forget.
What I enjoyed most about Sumilon Island is its calm and peaceful nature. Although there were other visitors, the place was never crowded and the environment was tranquil and serene. The island itself is not too overgrown - the resorts maintain it, but at the same time it is ensured that the beauty of the island remains pristine so it can be enjoyed by all. The sandbar is definitely a must-see, but the entire island is worth exploring. If you are seeking to unwind, to swim, to snorkel, or just enjoy the scenery, Sumilon Island has something for everyone.
If you’re planning to visit Sumilon Island, I recommend going during the dry season for the best weather. Just don't forget the sunscreen (the sun will be intense), and don't forget the camera (The island looks wonderful for pictures). If you enjoy snorkeling you can bring your own equipment or rent it at the resort. It is also a wise thing to reserve your trip in advance, especially if you are going to spend the night at the resort, as it can be totally booked during the holiday season.
Bluewater Sumilon Island Beach Resort is not just a beach resort. It’s a place where you can connect with nature, recharge your energy, and enjoy the simple pleasures of life. The beautiful natural water, soft sand, and warm staff hospitality made my visit unforgettably special. When you are in Cebu, you should not miss Sumilon Island. To me, it was like a tiny piece of heaven, and I can't wait to go back someday.
