The chapel in Polish mountains - Tarliczne [EN/PL] Kapliczka w góra...

The historic chapel at the crossroads between Tarliczne and Pawliczne is a frequent destination of my walks in Poland, especially after the accident, because it is simply close and I can sit there, rest. According to the information I managed to find, the chapel was built by a resident of Pawliczne - Szczepan Kuśnierz in 1826. This date was carved in the wall and is also recorded in local church chronicles. In 1828, the chapel was consecrated, and in 1831 the first mass was celebrated there. The founder or builder of the chapel left it as a legacy to his neighbor, Paweł Kuśnierz, with the obligation to take care of it and to celebrate masses there. In 1966, Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński gave the chapel the name of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary. Currently, the chapel is part of the parish in Laliki, and masses are held there irregularly, mainly on special occasions, e.g. baptisms.

Wg informacji, które udało mi się znaleźć, kapliczka została zbudowana przez mieszkańca Pawlicznego - Szczepana Kuśnierza w 1826 roku. Taka data została wykuta w murze, a także zapisana jest w lokalnych kronikach kościelnych. W 1828 roku kaplica została poświęcona, a w 1831 roku odprawiono tam pierwszą mszę. Fundator czy budowniczy kapliczki pozostawił ją w spadku swojemu sąsiadowi, Pawłowi Kuśnierzowi z obowiązkiem dbania o nią i o to, by były w niej odprawiane msze święte. 1966 roku, kardynał Stefan Wyszyński nadał kapliczce wezwanie Narodzenia Matki Boskiej. Obecnie kapliczka jest częścią parafii w Lalikach, a msze w niej odbywają się nieregularnie, głównie przy specjalnych okazjach, np. z okazji chrzcin.

For the English-speaking reader: the region in which the chapel is located is the Żywiec Beskids, a mountain range in southern Poland. There are several smaller mountain peaks nearby, and within a radius of a dozen or so kilometers, several more famous ones, including Pilsko (1557), Barania Góra (1220), Skrzyczne (1257). The chapel is located at an altitude of 620 meters. The Żywiec Beskids, although beautiful, are still not overly visited by tourists and you can find many places for peaceful hikes there. The borders with Slovakia and the Czech Republic, with which Poland shares this mountain region, are nearby. The capital of the region is the small town of Żywiec, which is known, among other things, for beer production. Many residents of Żywiec region still cultivate the old folk customs of this region. For example, always on the occasion of Christmas and New Year, colorful processions of people in costumes go around the villages and even in the town, whose costumes refer to folk beliefs.
