Well Hello There Fellow Hivers And Travelers!!
So last week I shared a post containing the journeys of an unexpected walk we took along the St. Blaze Trail.
A quick recap
Myself the Betty and her brother was bored at the holiday inn and we decided to go get some ice-cream and while doing so we somehow decided that we are going to go on an ADVENTURE! Well best adventure I had in a long time. Never the less in the previous post I shared Exploring Mossel Bay Point Near Cape St. Blaze. Well at the end of that post we took a little breather to savor the beautiful views and wonderful atmosphere. This is where this post I am sharing today takes off!.
If you haven't yet seen that post I would recommend going through it quickly, just to have a rough idea of the journeys start!
The Lighthouse
The Lighthouse was somewhere above our heads at the spot we took a breather, needless to say it was a little bit hidden from where we were sitting. So we only noticed it after quite the walk away from that spot when I turned around to take some photos of the seas.
So on the way back I decided well I should probably take a snapshot of the Lighthouse as well and I think it came out pretty nice.
Keep in mind this light house does actually tower out above the cliffs and the cliffs are high!

A few more detailed photos of the lighthouse at Mossel Bay Point
Just a random board displaying information as to why Lighthouses are important, However I took this photo to share because of how battered and rusted it became over the years! The sea can truely chip away at everything it touches, yet it has a beauty like no other!
Where Are We Headed?
Well how can I say this? I don't really know what it's called but notice the immense dark spots in the middle of the cliffs? We were curious to see what was going on in there. Not that there was much that was suppose to be going on there, I think it was more of a milestone that we wanted to achieve.
With that said we ventured much much further.
We stopped at the end of the cliff-line, or at-least the visible cliff-line in the photo. More or less where the people jumped on the zip-line (I will mention this a little bit later in the post.)
I don't want to refer back to the previous post too much, but in that post I mentioned The Sort of Hidden Beach Front well it ain't actually a beach front but that's besides the point. We are now past it as shown in the photo below.
It was at this point that I or we noticed the Lighthouse or well the little bit of it sticking out. Kind of hard not to miss the whiteness glooming over the cliffs! And boy I didn't notice until now that we have actually walked some distance. Laughs still a lot more ground to cover.
Perhaps this year we shall go and do a tour of the Lighthouse itself. I remember @Misshugo mentioning something about it.
The Crevasses In The Cliffs!
So finally we have arrived at the "Milestone" we have set for ourselves and it was at this point that we really got fired up and wanted to continue on this journey.
Needles to say all that was below in the crevasses was rocks....
Well there was a iron bed frame down there, and I remember how we pondered at how that was even possible? Perhaps from a sinking ship? Perhaps someone that was done with sleeping that chucked their bed down the hill?? I suppose we will never really know.
Or
We think that it was a bed frame! Laughs Laughs! It would impossible to see in this photo, because the rusted steel is legitly the same colour as the rocks!
However
Needles to mention this, but the views were insanely beautiful and it got even more beautiful past this point!
Stick around and you'll see what I mean!
While I'm writing this I know I have a few videos that I recorded, I really hope I have one depicting the waves crashing over the rocks. However I highly doubt it.
But you can see the difference between the upper photo and the one displayed below.
Discovering A Few Notable Landmarks
Whilist enjoying our adventure filled journey we happen to notice some ancient landmarks created by the Cave People
Laughs Laughs I'm Joking I'm Joking
Well they certainly were not created by the Ancient People. They probably ain't even 20 to 30 years old. However they are still somewhat of a landmark and something that we found really interesting.
It was probably referring to there being a lot of birds in the area? I surely hope it wasn't some sort of a warning sign 🙃 Is it possible that we could have been abducted by sea birds😂🤣
Okay jokes aside, I still wonder because there weren't any seagulls in that area when we went on the walk. Like I can't even recall any birds.
Seagull painted on boulder.
Moss covered stone.
Another seagull but this one is a little bit battered by the elements.
Nearing The St. Blaze Trail Zip-line Jumping Point
The Mossel Bay zipline is the worlds longest ocean zipline. Covering a distance of 1100 meters.
For those interisted in a more in depth read about this zipline check out the link below.
At this point we were getting closer to the zipline jumping spot, it had a deck that sort of towered over the cliff side but it was a little bit more inland. However the people jumping from the zipline should have been able to see us, although I think their attention was else were🤣 perhaps on the jump they were about to make. They were in speaking distance though, could literally hear them telling their friends and family that they ain't really prepared. But shite, I suppose I wouldn't be prepared as well😂
The amount of swearing these oaks did while jumping of the edge to start zipping down was insane, even the women 😜
It's hard to see I know but the black dot is someone that jumped from the zipline, the cable leads down into the crevasse that opens over the ocean, so for the most part of the zipline you are flying over the ocean.
Can you imagine the view you get from over the ocean watching the cliff side on your left and seeing nothing but the open ocean on your right.
Let me put it this way, yes we also experience the same. However when we look at the open ocean we still see the ground we stand on along with the cliffsides.
Where as when you are ziplining for a moment or two the only thing you will visibly see is the ocean and just the ocean. Now for me that sounds cool or crazy because it's something I've never experienced before!
It can be scary and exciting at the same time.
This is without a doubt a To Do on my Bucketlist
Straying From The Main Route.
At this point we felt like kids disobeying the law! Almost as if we were trespassing.
I doubt that we were I just think it wasn't really part of the trail. We found a pathway that led through the bushes, one that strayed from the original route. But we couldn't have been the only ones that have discovered this route because it was well stepped out.
The nice thing about this beaten path was that it was covered in thick bushes and at the end of it, there was this sort of platform spreading out over the ocean. _Unfortunately it was such a jaw dropping beautiful sight that I completely forgot to take any photos.
However it was the insects paradise, almost like their safe haven so to say....
"Look at that bush with all the lady bugs on it I said to @Misshugo."
Laughs it wasn't long before I realized how utterly stupid I sounded.
Hmmm but it would have been cool if it was infact covered with Ladybugs
"Wouldn't it have?"
Also leading down that trail we found some sand stone type of environment above the cliffs.
Could it probably have been a beach front at some point in earth's history? Many many years ago?
Well don't dare to jump into the water now, your faith wont be tested. Instead your fate would be sealed!
Laughs Laughs
Okay so lets be serious again, this little piece of sandstone landscape really had a unique variety if insects that blended in with the landscape around it.
I mean take a look at this little critter blending in like a ninja in the dark heh heh... Well he really did blend in though... Look at the shoe print right next to it. I would have felt so bad if I splat it 😒 Luckily I didn't and I really hope that the other people venturing down this path wouldn't be the death of him🙁
Chilling At The Very End Of The Cliff Side
We are finally at the end of the cliff side that I mentioned earlier in the post, this is about two hours later.
Okay crawling down into the space that we were cuddled up in.. well it wasn't the safest space. Again this was far off from the main route of the St. Blaze Trail. It was clear that very little people knew about this spot, if in fact anyone. I can't really say anyone because I doubt that we were the first people there, we have a country full of adventuring souls and besides that I actually found a shell casing. I can't really remember where I put it, it's been about 11 months so yeah.
But! What would a shell casing be doing over here under and between the rocks on a narrow pathway under the cliff face? was there a war fought here at some point? There is a war memorial in Mossel Bay itself close to the starting point of the trail. But could it be related? If so this shell casing has been here for quite some time.
I'll try and get some photos of the War Memorial in Mossel Bay this year.
Notice how the cliff hangs over our heads and the trail to the left that we had to walk down to get to this spot.
From both me and @Misshugo I wish everyone a blessed rest of the weekend and safe journeys!
Especially to those risky adventurers.
P.S I know that I'm a paley
The full route of the Cape St. blaze trail. Keep in mind we didn't even walk a quarter of the full trail, perhaps this year will be a different story.
To everyone who made it this far into my post Thank you for the read and the support.
