Hi dear Hive community,
Today we want to share with you our stories from Africa. All the stories are personal experience of how we felt the country of Morocco. As we travel along we will share some local info boards and sights.
Our journey started from Udine, where we boarded a modern train that took us to the airport close to Venice. The time flew by very fast and we were also able to sleep for some more time, since we needed to wake up very early, at 4.
We landed in the afternoon in Marrakesh, where we got welcomed by a proper short storm. It's rarely raining in this desert places, and we walked from the airplane to airport just at the time of strong short storm. It was hilarious as we reached holiday destination completely wet from head to toe. We travelled with only smaller backpack with basic things we need. This way it's much easier to move around from place to place and not look to much like a basic tourist. We are sad that we were not able to take our tent and cooking equipment as Morocco is a paradise for camping and outdoor activities. In our opinion the country is very safe and people are generally helpful.
Steffen was here already two or three times so far, therefore he already had in mind what we want to see, which place we need to go to find a good place to stay, etc.
From airport we took a taxi to the main square. There we continue by foot, finding our room for the night and after exploring the streets, markets and important squares. Evening was lively, we also got our first meal, which was tasting delicious!
It's the best to try and stick to local places, as we discovered the best coffee wagon in one corner of a small street.
The main square Jala Fa was coming to life after the sun went down. There were many people singing, playing different instruments and having fun. Place was full of small market stands selling all kinds of products from food items, to duplicate iPhone's, children toys or jewellery. City felt pretty much alive long into the night. Due to that our first night was quite sleepless. As well Tamara forgot her earplugs, which are worth gold while travelling in India.
Early in the morning we were going out for sunrise to catch some street shots. The streets were empty and peaceful. It was nice to witness how the city is slowly waking up. Streets started to smell to freshly baked bread, crossaints and sweets. We realised that people generally wake up really late here as at 9 o'clock the city was still half asleep.
Nevertheless we enjoyed and take pictures as Marrakesh is a very nice place for photography. Many people are interacting, many don't realise that they are being photograped. Specially the morning light was giving an extra flair to the picture. After completing our walk, we were alredy on the main bus station, where we boarded a bus to Ait-Benhadu.
As always thank you for reading and wish you a nice rest of the day!
