Hello hivers Todays blog is about Churdhar. Which is the highest peak in Sirmaur district. It is easily accessible from Chandigarh. You just need to take bus or car from Chandigarh to Nohradhar. Nohradhar is 130km from Chandigarh. It will take 4 to 5 hours and you can stay in guest houses or hotels.
This trek is 18 km long.
Its a treat for trekkers to come here and do camping with fellow trekkers and explore this place. This is a religious place and belongs to The Shirgul Devta which is worshipped by the native people. There is a long story about this but I will tell you in short. I also belong to this place so I heard about this place from my parents and I am visiting here since I was 9 years old. So the story which I have heard from my grandparents about Shirgul devta is very heart touching.
Shirgul devta came here when he left his home and start making home for himself here. While breaking stones He found one stone which he broke many times but it gets back in shape everyday then he establish Shivling here which he worshiped and help people from the native places.
There is also a second story which is from the Ramayan and once Ravan was making stairs to heaven so Churdhar is the second stair to the heaven and first one is (Har ki paudi) in uttrakhand and second is Paudiwala which is also in sirmaur near Nahan.
It is also can be reached from other places like Sarahan (Chaupal) and Haripurdhar also. But for fun you need to go from Nohradhar side. Because you will see very beautiful views and trek is also very happening and there is so much to explore and its easy to follow.
You can also see Himalyan Mountain range from Churdhar and if you have Binoculars you can see many places from the top. Best time to visit here is april to october after that it will be extreme life here and all the dhabas and easting points will be closed and it is also coverd in snow in winter time and its difficult to find the path thats why its not easy to trek in winter days.
If you want to enjoy the trip then you can find stay and meal between the treks and you can also carry food with you. There is also free buffet for the devotees. So its a best place to visit in Summers with friends and family.
