Breb, the village that seems to have frozen in time in Maramures, Romania
Hello dear travelers
Today I come in front of you to share with you a place frozen in time, a village where even today they still preserve the customs of decades.
I've wanted to go to the Maramureș area for a very long time because I already had a long list of amazing places to visit.
So you can't get to Maramures without visiting one of the most beautiful villages in Romania, Breb.
Being quite a distance from home we decided to stay at a guesthouse just a few kilometers from this village so that we could enjoy exploring it the next day.
The next day I set the gps on one of the main objectives that I was going to visit in this village, but surprise, after about 3 kilometers on a very bad road (the car was filled with mud) I had the surprise to see that the road was closed, after the way back I didn't really know my car anymore how much mud was on it.
But I got over it, and I chose another route to get to the village (this route was about 20 kilometers longer), I really wanted to get there, so I didn't give up, and finally I got to the village.
But let me tell you that before I got to pass under the entrance gate in the village I passed through some fairytale areas, I met locals dressed in traditional clothes (they have not yet reached these modern means of communication), I really like that.
The gateway to the village of Breb.
I ask you this:
Could you last even one day without cell phone, internet, modern conditions, somewhere isolated with only pure nature around you?
At least for me this would be an amazing experience.
The first sensational thing that I discovered in this village are the traditional Maramureșene gates, if you haven't heard of it so far I'll show you some, such a traditional gate is handmade and can reach up to 15000 euros a gate.
Many of the roads through the village are unpaved, so its authenticity is 100% Romanian.
Walking through the streets of the village we found a quiet as if the village was deserted, we could only hear the footsteps and the voice of tourists, at one point we became thirsty and we chose to quench our thirst at one of the most authentic restaurants in the area, "Casa lu Dochia".
I had the feeling that I was in an open-air museum and not in a restaurant, everything arranged perfectly, great attention to detail, yes, I had a great experience here.
My dears, today's post has come to an end, I hope you enjoyed Breb, the traditional Romanian village.
THE END!
