Palace of Culture and Science, one of the most iconic places in Warsaw, Poland
The holiday I spent this year in Poland is still fresh in my mind, so in today's post I want to share with you another iconic place in Warsaw, the capital of Poland, namely the Palace of Culture and Science.
What is so special about this building?
The Palace of Culture and Science is one of the tallest buildings in Poland and I believe it ranks in the top ten tallest buildings in Europe.
When I did my first research on what to do in Warsaw and discovered this building I was captivated, seeing it so tall and reading more details clearly put it on my list of must-visit attractions.
To get to the center of Warsaw we had to take the tram, the tram stop was a two minute walk from the hotel where we were staying, and from there to the center it was about a 12 stop walk and about a few minutes (here we found a hotel at a good price).
Despite the -4 degrees it was outside at the time the walk through the city streets was amazing, why do I say that, because I have never seen so many skyscrapers before, I was actually walking down the street with my head up, at one point I got a sore throat from looking up, hehe.
The perfect image of skyscrapers in the mist.
Before reaching the Palace of Culture and Science we entered a mall that took our eyes, honestly I have never been in such a mall before, we stayed here for almost an hour because we ate something here.
Let's go to 230 meters, I can't wait any longer.
How nice it is to see the Palace of Culture among these blocks.
From what I have read it seems that this building was a gift to Poland from the former Soviet Union, its construction was completed in 1955, it is right in the center of the city, it is over 230 meters high and it is impossible to pass by and not notice it.
Now it occurred to me to ask you, what building in the world does this look like?
I felt like a child who couldn't wait to get up to the 30th floor, but up to here visitors were allowed.
The entrance ticket cost 20zl(zloty)/4,50euro, the ticket was in the form of a warsawpass which I scanned at the entrance, and from there I went directly to the elevators.
On the 30th floor there is the terrace where you can admire the panorama of the whole city, we didn't have a very clear view because of the fog but even so we were very pleased with what we saw, to know that here there are four elevators that in a few seconds take you up (so fast they went up that my ears were clogged).
Even though it was very cold outside here we met many tourists who came to visit this palace.
Once we got to the 30th floor the cold seemed to get even colder, my face and hands felt like they were freezing and I just took a few pictures to show you how the city looks from 230 meters high.
If you want to go home with a souvenir here you will find a small souvenir shop.
My dear visitors, here ends our visit to the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw.
If you liked what you saw and read here please don't forget to give a LiKe, Follow, reBlog or a Comment, for all this I thank you, and until the next post I say goodbye.
P.S. The attached pictures you have just seen are taken by me with my mobile phone, and the text is also designed by me.
