We opened the last gate of this world in the Ungureni cemetery in Craiova, Romania
Hello travelers
Today's blog is a more atypical one, I know that, but from my travels around the world I have noticed that more and more cemeteries are being visited in different parts of the world.
How did we get here?
We were visiting the most beautiful park in Craiova but also in Romania (if you haven't seen the blog yet you can do it here) and at one point we saw a lot of people following an alley, curious as we are by nature we wanted to see where these people go.
After about 500-600 meters we find ourselves at the entrance of a cemetery, wow, what are these people doing here, immediately I had a lot of questions in my head, do all these people have someone here in the cemetery, but from the dialect and the language spoken it did not seem to be from Craiova, more I saw many families with children walking around here.
At first sight it seems a bit strange but come with us to visit the Ungureni Cemetery.
I quickly searched for information on the internet and from the pictures I saw this one piqued my interest, in my traveling life I've visited several cemeteries in the world (Paris, Zagreb, and a few in other parts of Romania) so at some point maybe I'll make a top of the cemeteries, hehe.
Don't think that I've developed a passion for cemeteries (I'm not that weird), I only want to bring up very old cemeteries that have a story, an age and that are different from the usual ones.
We entered the tree-lined path with great interest, where here and there we found benches where we could take a break.
Not to forget to tell you that you can visit this cemetery for free any day of the year, on one of the gates I saw a daily program between 6-21.
Let's explore the cemetery together, from the main alley we took other alleys among the funerary monuments where we found some very interesting ones.
After a few steps here I found a really interesting funerary monument of a family, at first glance it looks quite old.
The imposing funerary monument is guarded by two ferocious lions,is the Michail family, probably this family at that time was very wealthy.
Let's move on and see what else we find around here.
After having visited the whole cemetery I can say that I liked one funerary monument the most, namely the one erected by the Vorvoreanu family (so it said on the tombstone), at first glance it seems to me that it is quite old, it seems that a talented sculptor has put his mark here.
Looks like I added another very interesting cemetery to the others I've visited so far, so after my visit here I took an Uber (taxi) and went to an Italian restaurant (it had very good reviews).
THE END!
If you liked what you saw and read here please don't forget to give a LiKe, Follow, reBlog or a Comment, for all this I thank you, and until the next post I say goodbye.
