Rather Radhe Everyone!
Hope you all are doing great and i'm back with an interesting blog. In my previous log , i've shared my journey in delhi metro, and ultimately , we reached South Delhi and to be more specific we are at Mehrauli Delhi.
The main reason why I'm here is to explore and know more about Qutub Minar, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and among the most iconic landmarks in India, which draws attention of visitors from all over the world. After entering the main gate, I saw a lots of people there, including students who were on a school trip to this amazing place. We also used to have such informative, an amazing school trips but it was my first time visiting this area , so I was quite excited to know more about the rich history and culture about India. I was as curious as the students here.
It was around four in the evenin an everywhere I see I spot people from all over the globe, excited to know more about the history of the place. Also the temperature at delhi is so high , so everybody prefer to visit during evening. As we entered through the main gate , I saw parks all around , which are very well maintained and they were neat and clean.
Mostly the visitors here are students, and
Let me tell you a history about this area. The construction of Qutub, Minar , it started in 1999 AD by the first muslim ruler off delhi. It was construed as a symbol of victory as the muslim defeated the Delhi's last kingdom which was hindu. Therefore , it is also famous with the name Tower of Victory. The construction at first was started by the party muslim ruler Aibak, he just let the foundation and completed some storey and later further muslim rural added 4 more to it.
As it is too old, the top storey was once disrupted by the earthquake as well as the lightning so it was rebuilt again buy Feroze Shah , who added the fifth storey. To preserve these monument and the rich history late in 1993, it was designated as a UNESCO world heritage site.
These minars are so old and sometime I think how they withstood all the earthquakes , lightning and seven calamities over these year?Well I think the answer lies in the architecture as well as the material used in construction.
I was there with my friends and we kept walking for approx. 10 minutes to reach the main area, so it made me curious about the total complex area off Qutab Minar, so the figure is different everywhere, but the garden area around Qutab Minar is around 13 acres.
The Sun was about to set and everything around town golden and it was looking so pretty. What makes this more pretty is the architecture of the minar, so it was a blend of Islamic architectural elements with the indian architecture. So it's unique in itself and totally eye-catching.
I was really unaware so at first I thought only Qutub Minar is there, but as I saw the map outside the complex after entering through the main gate, I came to know that the centrepiece is the Qutub Minar, but the complex includes lots of other minars and pillars, some of them are the Iron pillar, Ali darwaza, the Tomb of Iltutmish and lots of unfinished minars , such as Alai minar.
So this is the informative map which enlightened me and a visitors like me who knows nothing about the minar complex this is must. It is crucial as it tells about the layout and also locates different monument with in the complex making it easy to understand without getting confused.
This map has a very well labelled key monuments within the complex as it has labelled iron pillar, which is located near the mosque Courtyard, which makes it literally easy for every new visitor A visit without getting confused. Each and every detail and their placement within complex was there over the map , which I literally think is the best thing.
Along with it, the map also shows the location of the some essential facilities such as a drinking water area, toilets, cafeteria for refreshments and the setting area. It is guide to Avenue visited and it is also easy to understand.
After understanding the map, it was time for me to reach near the victory tower, and I was surprised to know it was 72.5 m. and it is also the tallest brick tower in India. At the top, the diameter of the tower suddenly narrows and become 2.7 m. But at the base, the diameter is around 14 m cause of this unique and tapering design, it was able to withstand all the calamities till date.
There are some steps inside the tower to reach at the top off the victory tower they are around 379 but the general public access to it has been closed from so long. It's better for the safety of the general public as well as for the preservation of this beautiful , unique and tallest brick tower.
This is my favourite picture in the blog and the Delhi Airport is nearby so you will spot lots of airplane there. All the pictures are taken by me with my phone and I have tried my best to show you around.
If you are someone, who loves history, and interested in architecture, this place is definitely for you. So do visit this place and in my upcoming blog, I'll share about the different towers and pillars of the complex so stay tuned.
And this is the picture that I have taken during the peak sunset , our and I hope you find it as interesting as I do.
Thank you so much for reading my blog.
